OK, I guess I'll have to give it a try. I missed the part where you got rid of the need for BlueTooth modem. I didn't know that BT handsfree profile sends caller ID info.

Another question, this may seem trivial or even kinda dumb, but just want to make sure since I cannot get the popups within MCE, only desktop.

The first time you run any of the W7 Caller ID applications a Firewall window will pop up. Make sure to check off the
‘Private networks’ checkbox and click on ‘Allow access’

In the above instruction, what exactly does "check off" mean ? Select or Deselect this option ?

Regardless, i turned off the firewall and I still cannot get the popups within MCE, clearly I am doing something wrong.

Thx
Tester
Has there been any headway on this issue? I am experiencing the same problem as Tester, including the unhandled exception error that I was able to get around.

My apologies. I did a reboot and made sure localhost was on the list and its working like a charm. Even added my wife's phone and she's happy. Thanks man.

Add Localhost to your list of computers to serve.

This is the common problem related to windows firewall. When you run MCE for the first time after plugin installation, the firewall popup is showing up but MCE is usually in full screen mode and this popup is invisible. You need to switch MCE to window mode after setup(or reboot MCE PC and run MCE in window mode), then when the popup shows click "Allow access"

Hi,

I'm trying to get this working for my home phone, its already working great with the bluetooth modem combined with my iphone but i can't quite get it to work with the home phone.

so i bought this modemhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/review/REL2JEX3OGQ74/r ... 2JEX3OGQ74 which seems to be supported from the comments. its detected fine by the w7callerid app and even allows me to test it. the only problem is it doesn't show me any CLID info.

I don't have a CLID home phone so i can't be certain that CLID is enabled but BT have confirmed it is enabled following my request. one of the reviewers on the amazon page i linked to mentioned the modem does work with an extra initialisation command of #CID=1 and i can see where to enter these but i can't see how i initialise the modem to get this to work.

anyone any clue? obviously the best thing to do would be to try a phone that is known to be CLID compliant and check 1st that the phone line is delivering the CLID info. but that requires buying (or borrowing) a phone and i'd rather not do that yet...

Open Settings->Test Modem and click "Start" button. This is mini Hyper Terminal. Try to enter AT#CID=1 and make sure you will get back "OK". Then try to make call to the land line and check the modem response.

ok, if i enter AT#CID=1 i get an error but if i enter AT+VCID=1, which is the caller ID command that my modem defaults to in the scan tab then i get an ok. does this mean anything?

It means that your modem does not accept AT#CID=1 command. Try all other commands in dropdown, run "Test modem" and then call to landline and check modem response

Then either modem does not support caller id or you do not have the service. As I know there is a problem in UK to find BT compatible modem. I'd suggest to borrow CID compatible phone first to make sure you have the service.

Hey just wanted to confirm i have this all working now. the original modem i bought didn't seem to work but thanks to Stan I tried this one

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Conexant-USB- ... 0665269719

and once i'd uninstalled the original driver and restarted it was working without any other work. It defaulted to the correct CLID command but its AT+VCID=1 if you need that.

Thanks again to Stan for his support!

Hi,

I am trying to connect an iPhone using the 'Asus usb-bt211 mini bluetooth dongle' suggested on the W7CallerID hardware page. I paired the phone with the computer, did a scan with the W7CallerID server and saved my iPhone as an active device. But when I call the iPhone it does not show up. I know the computer sees it because it makes a telephone ring sound. The Caller ID works great with my land line.

Also, anyone using this setup know how to turn off the music player that pops up when the iPhone connects to the computer. And if I could stop the computer from playing a ringtone when the iPhone gets a call.

Thanks for any help.

I hope you used the latest drivers from ASUS website. If so I'll need to get some logs to investigate. Please send me e-mail to support@w7callerid.com
For the second issue you can disable some BT services using Properties -> Service tab or double click on BT device and disable it there
For W7callerid the following services are required:

Yes, I downloaded the latest driver from the Asus site. I've been able to get 1 of my iPhones working (I don't how) but my second iPhone works intermittently. I will play around some more and email you at support if I can not get it working.

I got both of my iPhones working! I have a lot more options in my bluetooth services window. If I only enable the services that you have checked then everything works. Thanks for your help.
