Black thumbnails on Now Playing (Music)

I have a fresh copy of Windows XP MCE 2005 with all its updates applied, including WMP11.
For some reason, all my music files are shown as a black rectangle when the Now Playing screen is shown.
I tried using MP3tag to fix the music tags with no luck. Even I used the folder.jpg extraction with the same problem.
What can I do to fix this problem?
