Tuner in use on launch?
I forget what exactly changed, but a couple of weeks ago, every time I launched WMC in Live TV mode, I get the message (in WMC) "Tuner in use" with a Cancel button that lets me go to the menu to open "Live TV".
Does anyone have any idea why & how to fix? Very annoying.
TIA

Please give more details. What type of tuners? Do the tuners work at all after getting this message? Have you tried rebooting? Have you made any system changes prior to it occurring?
I know very little about WMC on Win11, so others will probably have to chime in, but with so little information, I can see why people may be reluctant to respond.

Sorry. Quick details:
It's a Hauppauge WinTV Quad-HD PCIe card with 4 tuners. Everything works fine after clicking Cancel. It's been going on for weeks and I shutdown the PC every night.

What version of WMC are you using?
Did your PC do an update or upgrade that might have coincided with when this started?
I have one of those tuners in a PC running Windows and am not having any problems. Mine is fully up to date.
I used to find that the PC took ages to initialize the card when booting but it seems to be fine now - maybe the driver got rolled back to an older version?

WMC v8.8.5
No recent updates. Though I use "EPG123", which I may have screwed up recently trying to force a guide update when I didn't realize the problem was not on my end ("Schedules Direct" was down.)

I meant to say I'm running Windows 11 with mine but it didn't come out, not that it helps you.
I can't see EPG123 causing the problem.
You haven't installed anything else on the PC that might be slowing it down or trying to access the tuner?

No. Nothing else trying to access the tuner.
But since this problem started, I can only watch/record two programs at once. Device Manger shows no errors and both "Tuner" devices are listed.
I'm stumped. For some reason, WMC always thinks all 4 tuners are always in use until I click cancel (which "may" only be freeing up a single tuner.)

I've seen this error only once, personally. And in that case, it was an issue with the ehRecvr service (i.e the WMC component that handles all the tuning stuff).
I'd start by taking a look at the services list and the Windows logs to see if there isn't anything funky.

Sorry for the late reply. I had to do some experimenting.
No errors in the logs.
I tested using Hauppauge's own "WinTV" app and was able to open 4 tuners at once, so they are all functioning, meaning the problem must be on WMC's end (also confirming the tuners are not already in use before I ever launch WMC. It just thinks they are.)
I'll try reinstalling WMC over the weekend to see if that clears things up. Thx.

Just wanted to update this old post (Problem solved) for anyone who encounters this obscure problem in the future:
I noticed that only WMC was having the problem, and reinstalling WMC didn't fix it. I found the answer here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... b59c3ace92
"Setup info" was missing from the install (I don't know why.) Simply running Setup again (Tasks | Settings | Windows Media Center Setup) fixed the problem.
