Static content judder/shaking on AMD Win 11

I have replaced my old Intel 620 with AMD Ryzen 7 5700U due to constant freezes. So far the AMD doesn't freeze at all but it has one huge problem is that static content like channel logo, static graphics shakes on screen. After doing a lot of searching discovered lav filters by enabling software deinterlacing selecting bwdif or yadif no static content and I go perfect did so many channel changes no issues went to watching records great works until I started clicking the skip button or fast forward and the video is totally unwatchable.

Using 411 while video is playing I can see the frame rate switching between 25/12.5 that probable explains why there is this shaking. I tried 60hz 50hz 59.94hz but all the same.

So it looks like hardware deinterlacing is not working. If anyone has suggestions would be appreciated.

I experienced the same exact issue when installing Windows 11 on an Intel NUC 8 I bought recently (and just like you, the image was visually perfect when using the LAV Filters but rewinding/fast-forwarding was completely broken).

The shaking is harder to notice once you step back from the screen, but it was visible enough to bother me so I installed Windows 10 to see if it could be caused by a change introduced recently and oh surprise, I wasn't able to reproduce it on Windows 10: it's very possible something has changed in the MPEG video decoder in Windows 11.

Thank you for suggestion. Had no luck and finally decided to pull the plug on WMC and installed Emby Theater. Customised it how I liked it had to use Advanced Remote Mapper to map to Emby Theater keystrokes. It's not good as WMC but it has some advantages so far it has been very reliable everything records in four days it has not crashed. Family is slowly getting used to it like me I prefer WMC but I am over of the constant crashes and issues with sound etc.

Hopefully it continues to be improved on so one day it is better than WMC.

I wasn't able to reproduce it on Windows 10: it's very possible something has changed in the MPEG video decoder in Windows 11.

I reinstalled Windows 11 on a sacrificial machine - a Samsung Slate PC, so definitely not recent hardware - and I was able to confirm there's indeed a weird regression: replacing msmpeg2vdec.dll (i.e the MSFT DTV video decoder) by the .dll of the same name extracted from the latest Windows 10 version completely fixes the issue.

Interestingly, the size of that .dll has changed quite a lot (from 2463Ko to 2641Ko), so it's likely MSFT has introduced significant changes that have caused side effects like the one described here.

If we get more reports indicating it's a widespread issue, I'll consider releasing an updated installer embedding msmpeg2vdec.dll taken from Windows 10
