Adding extra channel not in Schedule Direct channel listing

#1

Post by dmine45 » Mon Feb 22, 2021 10:34 pm

First of all, hats off to Gary to allow all of us to continue to use WMC long past the time frame Microsoft had discontinued support for both WMC and Windows 7.

Now to my question:

When EPG123 downloads the schedules for my system (Verizon FIOS - Herndon, VA / Metro Washington, DC), it seems to be missing a couple of channels that are actually there (because I can tune them in with my Verizon STB), but the schedule doesn't show the channel at all. It just skips over the channel.

Can I manually add the channel? There are shows I'd like to record, even in manual mode.

Do I need to create a custom channel lineup in order to do this?

Thanks!

Are the channels available for download from Schedules Direct? Open the configuration GUI and check to see if the channel is there. If it is, just make sure it is checked so that you will download the listings for that station. If the station is not available, submit a ticket to SD to get them added.

If you are downloading the stations, then you need to make sure the listings are mapped to your guide channel. This is done in the client. Refer to https://epg123.garyan2.net/tools/#channelMapping

No, it's not available for download from SD. I download everything SD offers for my my FIOS lineup. They simply don't offer it. I was just looking for a workaround.

I can see if SD will offer it. It's a sub-channel of one of the local PBS stations. They may not even offer a schedule for it to SD. I'll check, though.

In the client, the right side pulldown, there should be a lineup called "ZZZ123 Dummy Lineup" with a single DUMMY channel. Select the DUMMY channel on the right, and the channel you are missing on the left, right-click and select 'Subscribe'. This will keep the channel enabled in the guide. Submit a ticket with SD to get the channel added to the lineup and when they complete that, the channel will automatically be populated with guide listings as long as you have automatch and automatically add options enabled.

You can find another lineup with the channel you want, add it to your account, and enable it for download. The problem here is you will need to disable the automatch feature in your scheduled task (delete the task, disable the option, and create a new task). I don't recommend this path if you are not familiar working with the configuration GUI and how channels are enabled for download.
