Update warning

#1

Post by controlman » Mon Aug 24, 2020 5:26 pm

Running Ver:1.3.10.0. Currently getting a warning: It appears the MXF file to import is incorrect. Changing the import file from "c:\epg123\epg123.mxf" to "c:\epg123\output\epg123.mxf". Any idea how to correct this?

This is a leftover from quite a while ago when I changed the default save location of the mxf file to be in the \output folder. To avoid folks failing to update with the new location, I put in code to compare the current location with what the scheduled task was setup for. All you need to do is delete your current scheduled task and create a new one and the warning will go away.

Thank You. Worked perfect. Could this be the reason that i have had to rebuild MC Database about every other week or do i have a deeper issue?

No, this couldn't be related to that. If you want to send me your trace.log file, I can take a look. There should be no reason to Rebuild every other week. What are your indications?

I updated to Version 1.3.10.20 on August 31 and ever since the TV Guide is not updating.
The error message posted in the Log states that the MXF file is 277.97 hours old!
The MXF file location in the GUI is correct as posted previously in this forum.
What do you suggest I do to correct this problem?
I am most grateful for you creating this wonderful tool!

I'll need to see more of your log file to see what is going on, but first guess would be that your task is not configured to run 'Full Mode'. Open the client and on the top left of the form there are 2 radio buttons, 'Full Mode' and 'Client Mode'. Is the 'Full Mode' selected?

I cannot select "Full Mode". It is grayed out!

You will have to delete current task, select Full Mode, and then create the task again.

To update your guide you will need to select Update Guide Now from the tray icon or open the configuration GUI and click [Save & Execute].

Thanks for your prompt response.
As I stated in my previous post, after I delete the Scheduled Task and create a new task I am unable to select Full Mode. It is grayed out. I am also unable to deselect Client Mode. It appears I am in a "Catch-22".

You can't change that selection while a task exists. After you delete the task, the option will be available... select Full Mode and then create the task again.

I wish I could send you an image of the upper left corner of the GUI. Here is my description:

The Scheduled Task is deleted "Create" button is active
The "Full Mode" button is grayed out and thus I am unable to select it.
The "Client Mode" is selected Text in red: No task is scheduled to run (I cannot deselect this button)
Contents of window: C:\epg123\output\epg123.mxf

When i select "Create" the Scheduled Task is created and the Client Mode button stays selected. Full Mode is not selected.
There appears I have no other recourse to solve this problem.
This problem with updating the TV Guide started on August 31 when I updated to the new software.

I'll try to recreate that. That radio button should be enabled.

UNLESS, when you installed epg123, you chose the client install and not the full install. Does the file c:\program files (x86)\epg123\epg123.exe exist?

epg123.exe does not exist. Only Client & Transfer
I installed epg123 Version 1.2.13.0 last June and a month later 1.2.15.0. I cannot be certain how I installed it.
Was there some change in the latest code which exposed this problem?
The TV Guide was being updated successfully for more than a year until now.
Having been a programmer for IBM for many years, I understand the joys of programming.
If it requires I have to reinstall epg123, no big deal.

Yes, you will have to run the setup again and make sure 'Full Install' is selected to make sure the server part (epg123.exe) is installed. Then that option will be available and you will be back in business.

When you installed the 1.2.x versions, did you use the installer or did you use the portable files? If you used the portable files then the installer for 1.3.10.20 would have no idea where epg123 is currently installed and no idea if it was a full install or a client only install... it would have installed in the default location.

Awesome!
Success in updating the TV Guide after the reinstall. Full Mode is now selected.
