I cannot update my schedule. It worked, but now it no longer does. I downloaded the newest version, updated the software, deleted / recreated the task at a new time, saved and executed the changes, and rebooted the PC. Same results, 0xffffffff. My log is huge due to doing multiple failed updates, but this is the last attempt.

The error is from the WMC utility program loadmxf.exe which imports the guide listings created by EPG123 into the WMC database. This is typically an indication of a database corruption.

From a command prompt, run "start /wait c:\windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -uf -dbgc" and wait for it to complete. Once complete, try an update again. If it still does not work, then you will have to rebuild the database using the client [Rebuild WMC Database] button.

I am on WIndows 7. I get the following error when I run that command:

Hmm. Try rebooting and try again. I'm wondering if something is holding onto the database and letting mcupdate do its' thing (garbage cleanup).

I did, same results. I just deleted the WMC database as I read online and am rebuilding it now.

EDIT: The rebuild obtained new guide info, so now I have to wait a few days to see if it fails. I will update with success or failure. Thanks for the rapid response and help!!!

The [Rebuild WMC Database] does the database deletion as well. It's a 1-click done operation... well 2-clicks because you will need to import your guide listings again.

Everything is complete, the guide exists again and works to tune a show. I manually ran the update task and it completed successfully. I will consider this to be fixed. Thank you so much!

Rebuilding the WMC Database did the trick. I wanted to close the loop and say thank you!

Hi everyone, I wanted to also confirm that I had the same issues with my guide not running ([ERROR] Error Using Loadmxf.Exe To Import New Guide Information. Exit Code: -1) and the EPG123 scheduled task would not complete any longer. The "start /wait c:\windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -uf -dbgc" attempt via the command prompt would cause Windows Media Center Store Update Manager to crash, even after multiple reboots. Running the Rebuild WMC Database option from the EPG123 Client worked and I was able to see the guide updated after that.

One issue I had afterward was that I then received errors in WMC when trying to tune to a channel. WMC could not connect with my tuners after the database rebuild (I have an HDHR Prime). I restarted the HDHomeRun service with WMC running, and then could tune to channels once again.

I hadn't seen or heard of this, but the only thing I can think of is that EPG123 had to stop the HDHR service in order to delete the database. In which case, after the rebuild completes, you will have to manually start it back up again.

Hi Gary -- the HDHomeRun service was actually running though! I could use the HDHR Quick View app on my HTPC and tune to all my channels; it was simply that any channel in WMC gave the "no tuner available" message. Windows event viewer also showed logs that WMC couldn't communicate with the tuner (and the tuner ID was definitely the right one and matched what the HDHR Config app said the tuner ID was). I just restarted the HDHomeRun service and then could tune to channels in WMC once more.

Thanks!

Interesting. I'll try further to recreate (I've got HDHR connects) and may just file this away as an interesting quirk. Thanks for the info and the solution!
