Upgrade from v 0.9.8. how to?
I'm running EPG123 0.9.8 since 2016. It just works and works, so I haven't worried about it. It's been so long ago, I don't even remember what I did to install it. Was there an installer? Did I just unzip it and run the .exe?
I would like to upgrade. Will it be simple? Will I lose all my recording settings?
If my wife misses one of her 39 vet shows or 37 home remodeling shows, she'll have a cow.

Wow. Back then there wasn't an installer and the client did not yet have a GUI. I just did a quick upgrade from 0.9.8 to 1.3.8.10 without issue but it is going to depend on how you are setup. There are a couple things to be aware of, but otherwise it is pretty straight forward.
1) Where is your epg123 installed currently?
2) Do you want to use the installer, or do you want to just unzip the portable into your current location?

Looks like it's located in C:\Users\Sage\EPG123\epg123_v0.9.8_w7
I think I would like to run the installer.
Still running Windoze 7

Okay, so the following steps should do it for you.
1) With your current version, delete the Scheduled Task in the configuration GUI.
2) Download and run the epg123Setup file. Allow it to install in the default location in the Program Files folder. Do not select to launch either EPG123 or EPG123 Client before exiting.Select the option to launch EPG123 and immediately close it once it opens.
3) Copy your epg123.cfg and guideImages.xml file from C:\Users\Sage\EPG123\epg123_v0.9.8_w7 to C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123 folder.
4) Open the configuration GUI (EPG123 shortcut) as administrator.
5) Select the Scheduled Task tab and create a new task with a randomized time you prefer. Ensure the options to automatically import and automatically match are enabled.
6) For each lineup you download from, you will need to specifically include it in the download.
7) On the configuration tab, look over all the "new" options available and enable/change as you want.
8) Click the [Save & Execute] button.
That should be it for the upgrade. I would encourage you to take a look at the client GUI, particularly the [Tweak WMC] button, to see if there is anything there you want to try out. I lot has happened in the last 4 years.
EDIT: Had to adjust instructions. Opening EPG123 will cause it to create the folders in the ProgramData folder to copy the config file and images file into.

Is there no need to use the separate transition tool which came with the v1.1.0 release?

The automatch will take care of that. Even without the automatch, the guide will still work... it just won't be "right" in what lineup it is assigned to. Since the station IDs don't change, the guide listings will still get updated without issue.

Everything seems to have gone smoothly. Thanks Gary for the help! I've been toying with the new Tweak WMC features. Very nice.
