Thanks for setting up this forum, I gave up on Microsoft in providing us with a home.

Hi
I really ought to introduce myself too. I've been thinking about building a HTPC for a long time, and finally got round to it about 6 months ago. Originally I wanted an easy way to store and watch movies, but lately have been interested in doing other 'cool' stuff like commercial skipping, watching satellite free-to-air TV from across the ditch (yep, I'm in New Zealand), IPTV and the like. I've been reading the forums for ages now, but only recently had reason to post (sadly mainly asking for help so far rather than offering it!)
I'm aiming to have an easy to use "it just works" system. I don't know if that fits with my constant tinkering, "what if I try this, will it be better?" nature. Oh well, everyone needs a hobby right?
I have to say I find the layout of this site easier to follow, Thanks.
Mike

So far so good with this new site. It's such a shame how media center forum is buried in windows experts. That drop down menu just to see the different sections is terrible. It was confusing for me, so my guess would be it's a turn off from a newbie surfing on in. Why do large companies always have to shove everything together in one jumbled place? Some spreadsheet manager is always making poor decisions. They are more worried about marketing everything they have in a lost mess than a true fun support community. It was a mistake to let Microsoft take over the Original TGB. (how did that happen anyway?) There is plenty of good information I need on the new MS site, so I'll/we'll be surfing both sites for a long time to come I'm sure.
P.S. how are some of you getting the TGB +1 badges below your name? I'm a 7-8 year MCE Vet. (started on the very first HP MCE box, worked at HP labs)

Hello All, So glad to see the "real" TGB" making a comeback with so many familiar names. But to get on with it: "Hi, My name is Ed, and I am a HTPC junkie"

Hi I'm Fred, the author or GuideTool and many DVBLogic products. Congratulation guys for putting on a good place to get together. Microsoft really screwed up with the original site. Good job on this one, and please, promise you'll never sell it to Microsoft . I'm looking forward to find interesting topics.
