Skipped Series Recordings

#1

Post by redmed » Tue Feb 11, 2020 11:08 am

I use Zap2it data for my guide data and generally everything works fine but on occasion I discover a series recording was skipped. I have been recording "This Week With George Stephanopoulos " for weeks now as a series and this week the show was skipped. Would data from TV Guide be a better source than Zap2it?

This isn't really a EPG123 issue, so it should probably be moved to the main EPG forum?

As far as zap2it vs TV Guide, I'm not sure if there's a meaningful difference. You could try switching and see what happens.

If you upgrade to Schedules Direct and you still have this problem, you'll probably get an investigation and a good answer. :)

I have this same issue. Just noticed it today. Not sure what's causing it. I have found that opening and clicking Save on each Series (via TV->View->Series) allows MCE to find additional episodes to record. Won't know until next week how the following week is affected. It appears to be related to updating the guide. This issue reminds me of a statement about restoring scheduled Series. That is, series wouldn't be scheduled until after a guide update.

Anyway, I would appreciate some help with this as well. Been using Zap2It for quite a while now, without any issue. At least that I noticed. Thank you!

You need to kick of the indexing tasks after an import for both the guide (category searches) and the PVR (recording schedule). viewtopic.php?p=130269#p130269

I was running the guide task but not the PVR task. Doing so appears to have worked. Thank you!

Thanks I'm going to schedule a task to run "C:\Windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -PvrSchedule" after EPG123 load and see if it clears the random series misses.

EPG123 runs the indexing automatically after an import... you are just going to be doing it twice.

If you open the Transfer Tool, is all the series on the right side green?

Yes, all the series on the transfer tool are green. Right now I know of one broken series. Months ago I created a series of "Off The Record" on channel 23 that has worked well for weeks. I just noticed that it did not record this week. I did a search of "Off The Record" and got two different hits. One of the "Off The Record" hits was for two shows (next week) on channel 23 that did not get the record setting that I expected and does not have the Create Series action available. The other "Off The Record" hit has two shows on channel 56 and has the Create Series action available. I created another "Off The Record" series now on channel 56. I went on View Schedule:Series and find two "Off The Record" series. The original series on channel 23 and the one I just made on channel 56.
