Disabling Channels in Schedules Direct Lineup

#1

Post by jwk » Sun Feb 02, 2020 7:24 pm

Is there any advantage to disabling unused channels in a Schedules Direct lineup? Will it get processed faster by EPG123 if the unused channels in my Lineups are disabled in my Schedules Direct account?

I don't use channels 2-459 and 800- 1983 in my FiOS Lineup.

TIA for your answer

The update will be faster, the WMC database will be smaller, the indexing will be quicker, the guide will be more responsive... typical benefits of having less data in a database.

Note that in the configuration GUI, you are actually selecting a station to download and not a channel number. So if the same station (same Station ID) exists on channel 100, 500, and 900, by selecting the station on channel 500 you will also get the station on channels 100 and 900. It is all or nothing when it comes to channel numbers and is why the initial sort is by Call Sign. If you don't want to see channels 100 and 900, you will have to disable them from view in the client or within WMC.

Just to be clearer, it only has those benefits if you disable the station in the configuration/server/EPG123.exe GUI. Disabling the channel in the client GUI or WMC itself does not give this benefit (unless it is also disabled in the configuration/server/EPG123.exe GUI).
