There is a problem with your merged channel 1799. I don't think an unsubscribe in the client will work, so I suggest editing the channel in WMC, edit listings, and select 'Show no listings...'

There are a couple other things that could indicate another problem, so I need to ask if you remembered to deny the Program Guide Terms of Service when performing Step 2. In the client, what does the status bar say at the bottom?

There is one extra lineup that keeps coming back. I'll delete it one more time and update...

I am pretty sure that means you didn't deny the "Terms of Service", or since you don't have 9999 channels in the status bar, you didn't do a clean start.

If I do a clean start and reload a backup... will I get back the preferred lineup and the shows that are set to record?

If you reload a backup, then it will be exactly as it is right now... you won't fix anything. Do a clean start and your recording requests will be restored, but your favorite lineups will not.

Not sure if this is a Schedules Direct problem or EPG. Several days ago, when someone posted that their OTA schedule/guide was off, my Fios guide was too. EPG reported that it had done the automated update - but only a third of the guide was populated correctly. Many channels just showed No Data Available past the pre-update.

Came here, read your advice to Save & Execute, so I did that too. It fixed the guide, so I never posted about the problem.

For the last several days, the daily update has had no new data. I did another S&E this morning - and again, that brought the guide up to date.

What's going on? Will I need to do an S&E daily, after each update to get the correct data?

First place to look is the trace.log file by clicking the [View Log] button. You dont have to manually update as long as your task is working.

Sorry if I'm not being clearer. The task IS running daily - but the guide is not updating for days on end unless I do a Save/Execute.

I understood that, kinda. But if you say the task isn't updating the guide, then either the task is not working, or it is not set up correctly.

If the status bug is red and/or has a datestamp more than 1 day ago, then there is a problem. The trace.log file can tell us what that is.

Just checked trace log. No red. Today's date. Going back through log, task was run daily successfully.

But some days the guide DOES update - and some days, often 2 or 3 in a row, it does not. The log says successful, but no new data is added. That's when I do a save/execute - and the new data appears.

Would you like me to send you the tracelog file? Which directory is it in?

Do you leave WMC open?

The trace.log file is c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\trace.log

Gary, I always close WMC before opening EPG. Have sent tracelog. FYI: Today's log says task ran successfully, but new data only added half the following day from where it ended yesterday. And where yesterday I had 17 days of listings, today I have 16. Shouldn't the update have added one new full day to bring me back to 17 days?

This is the pattern I've been experiencing. Likely tomorrow I'll have only 15 days, but after I do an S/E - I'll get 17 days again. Rinse, repeat.

Everything is working fine. Using @StinkyImp 's most excellent EPG123 Log Parser, you can see what each update got you.

If you take the number of daily schedules downloaded and divide by the number of stations, you will get the average number of days.
The results are: 17.13, 17.13, 17.13, 17.26, 17.64, 17.15, 17.60, 18.00, 17.00, 18.00, 18.00, 17.00, 17.11, 18.00, 17.00, 17.0, 17.51, 18.00, and 17.00 days.

There are a four times in the log that will look like you didn't get a guide update and that is when it goes from 18.00 days to 17.00 days between updates. There are also 3 times where it will look like you got 2 added days instead of 1.

My question concerning leaving WMC open. If it looks like WMC only has 15 or even 16 days of guide listings, try to just close WMC and open it back up. See if that changes anything. You have everything setup correctly and everything is good-to-go on every update. You do not need to perform a [Save & Execute] to "update"... you already are.

Tried that this morning and unfortunately it did not solve the problem, which today perfectly illustrates.

The update task ran this morning. Search showed 17 days of guide. But - when I looked at programs set to record, I noticed something odd. It jumped from recording programs Thursday evening 1/30 - to recording a single program Saturday evening, 2/1.

Where were my two series recordings for Friday, 1/31? Where was my series recording for Saturday morning? Not there.

I opened the general guide and scrolled all the way through to 1/31. Several channels went all the through to 7 pm on 2/1 - but many stopped at 7 pm on 1/30! Friday was entirely missing on those channels, including the ones my series used.

Closed WMC. Reopened. No change at all.

Closed WMC. Did a S/E. Reopened. Voila - all the channels now went through 7 pm on 2/1. Series showed up for recording Friday night and Saturday morning. .

So. If the task is running properly, and I'm closing WMC after the task is run: Either one is required to close WMC before turning off the TV for the night - which I do not do now; just put the PC to sleep with WMC on - or there is something else wrong. Perhaps with the *way* the task is run and how it brings in the guide.

In any event, this is a real problem. Perhaps I'm the only user of EPG that leaves WMC running when putting the PC to sleep, which is why no one else has experienced this - but it would be nice to know what's going on.

Thanks for all your help so far in addressing this!

I've seen posts here and there that indicate a problem when updating with EPG123 when WMC is running, but I don't know if it is the same for everyone.

I don't use EPG123 yet, but I do just what you do, put my PC to sleep with WMC running and I've never had a problem with updates (using the standard Microsoft/Rovi data). I'm not sure why an update through EPG123 would cause problems for some people, when the standard guide update does not.

Space, I never had this problem with the MS updates either. Just not getting them at all for days (or weeks) on end. :)

But you should switch to EPG - it's an exceptional, easy to use program. I love having the review stars back, and the correct dates and thumbnails for movies. And despite this weird little problem I'm having, it *does* update daily - and you get 17, not just 13 days of guide! Easy to install, too.

For importing the mxf file, there is no difference between a [Save & Execute] and the scheduled task run except the task doesnt show the progress bar.

In the past, I did have to find a method for WMC to refresh after an import in order to see the number of days available increase if it was open during said import. I'm talking about the number shown when you go to do a title search. I'll check and make sure that is still in the code later tonight.

Gary, that may be a problem - but it's not *my* problem. The title search this morning showed the correct 17 days.

But scrolling through the entire guide showed that was true only for *some* channels. The rest never got days 16 or 17.

Are you saying the two issues may be related? Is it perhaps necessary to close WMC at night to solve this problem?
