Have you ever used Team Viewer before? I understand your frustration, but I'm pretty sure I could get you up and running in a short amount of time.

What I am having trouble with is knowing the correct order in which each step must be performed an how to check that it completed properly. I can't find the link to the video that you are referring to.

Thanks,
Jerry

I just sent you another screen shot. I am waiting for a recording to finish right now before I start trying to fix the guide again. In 10 minutes, it will be 9 am here and I can start working.

Thanks,
Jerry

Microsoft wanted to do update this morning, so that cost me about 1/2 hr.
I'm trying the clean start, but nothing is happening. It says "Waiting for EPG1123 to close ... " Do I have to manually exit that??? This is where I got hung up yesterday.

If you want to do Team Viewer, I'm game. I guess I would have to install it.

I've done plenty of "teaming" when I was still working at Honeywell Aerospace.

If you are there, please help. I just finished the Clean Start and I have no guide. Do I have to do something in WMC first??? Do I have to do TV Setup first????

I'm lost here.

Sorry, was on the road. I'm actually at Arizona Mills Mall with the family. The video is at http://epg123.garyan2.net/install. The pic you sent me show no tuner channels or guide info. You definitely have to start at step 1.

Itll be late when I can do a team viewer session, but see if you watch the video. I'll still be able to text periodically.

I've been absolutely swamped this week so I thought I'd do an experiment. Since it was trivial to drop the contents of the zip files into the EPG123 directory, I swapped out 1.2.7 and 1.2.18.XX every morning to see what would happen...

NOTE: I didn't do anything except swap out the contents of the zip files. I didn't clear the cache or do anything else.

When I was using version 1.2.7.0 everything went smoothly. When I was using v 1.2.18.XX, I'd get the error and the associated Event Log entries as shown here. viewtopic.php?p=133115#p133115

I don't know if this is something you want to dig into to fix for future users when they update?? I'll probably overwrite 1.2.7 with 1.2.18, clear the cache, and see what happens. If it's that simple, maybe you can fix it programatically?

Gotta RUN! :D

Hi, I'm having trouble using the Forum. Don't know for sure how to continue with the same thread. Over the last few days, at least two have been generated which I did not intend to have happen.

After failing to get a clean start to go again, I rebooted my machine and was able to do a WMC setup accepting ROVI guide data. So I' running with that right now. I was having trouble getting WMC to see all of my tuners. The reboot fixed that. I actually have six tuners set up now. I two cable cards and two Homerun boxes with 3 tuners each. Before this, WMC would only setup with 4 tuners. So that's confusing. I did put the fix in for increasing the number of tuner some time in the past, but at some point had lost when I did a refresh of EPG123.

So right now, I have a guide and can record my programs for the weekend. I'm concerned that the client task will run and maybe corrupt the guide again. How can I be sure that doesn't happen?

I started looking at the video but what I see when I do a clean start is totally different. I also need to know at what point I need to go into WMC TV setup and disable the ROVI guide. For me, step 1 never completes. Instead, the buttons for step 1 and step 2 go green almost immediately and the message is that the process is waiting for a completion of some task. I seen two different messages like that.

Please let me know how I can check to see of the client task is scheduled and if so, how to disable it.

thanks,
Jerry

If the button in the Scheduled Task panel says [Delete], click it to delete the task.

Jerry, I dont know why what you see would be any different, other than the differences within WMC for your tuner setups. Going thru the client setup, it will open WMC for Step 2 when it is ti.e, and it will open EPG123 Configuration GUI for step 3 when it is time.

Closing the programs is done by you when you have setp WMC in step 2 and when you do a save & execute in step 3.

If you're still game, we can do a team viewer session later today.

Well, I've been able to study the video. I took screenshots at points and put them in document so I can see the sequence of what happens and when. Maybe it is just me, but the GUI never opened WMC for me, I'm pretty sure. Maybe it was already open and I needed to close it first??? Like I said, Step 1 and Step 2 buttons have been illuminating before I expected. Yesterday, I watched it doing nothing for 50 minutes before I realized I needed to do something. There was a window that was hidden, which I did not realize until later.

I may have to wait until next week to try EPG123 again. For now, I can kill the task so it doesn't modify the guide data that I have now.

I wanted to watch/record the baseball game today and several of the evening shows.

At least I know that WMC is running correctly right now and I have a working system and tuners and all that.

It'll be fine. Epg123 will close it to delete the database and then open it again to create a new one.

The only way to brick the database is to import guide listings before WMC tuners have been set up. The task will stop itself if that condition exists, but the manual import button would let you do it. I am adding a warning to that button for next release.

EPG123 (v1.2.19) - problem with station logos

FIrstly, thankyou for such a great tool, especially now it's incorporating functionality that existed previously in GuideTool and MyChannelLogos. I'm in the UK, matching against a Freeview lineup. The guide itself looks great, but when I try and turn on station logos, a large fraction of the images simply don't display, and I just get the channel names for those stations instead. In an attempt to check whether there is a problem with the images themselves, I copied one of the working logos to every file that epg123 expects to exist in the logos directory, but I still get large numbers of non-displaying logos. Any help here would be much appreciated [sample screenshot attached]

What lineup are you using, I'll check it out here to see if I can duplicate. Do you still have MCL XL installed? It will tend to try and replace logos with its own.

Lineup is 'Freeview - Cable (South)'. MCL XL got fully uninstalled and a fresh version of WMC-V8.8.4 was installed afterwards

I'm not seeing any issue here. It downloaded and included all the logos without issue. I do see in your example that all you have is the BBC1 logo on channels that shouldn't. Are you sure you have the 'Include station logos' option enabled?
