It would be nice if every time we have a delay in guide data we would not have to endure the insults from the 123 side,.
sigh.

Anyway, if I didn't have any problems whatsoever doing the install, NO ONE would have any problems. Trust me.

I think people are making things up to excuse irrational behavior, frankly...

So now I am irrational and I make things up. 2 more insults. Maybe it is irrational behavior to attack those who are not using the same product as you. Does my not yet using 123 effect you that much? What do you know about me. Maybe I'm just old, my wife is dead, I'm alone, and I haven't seen a C prompt since before Windows was born. My son installed WMC for me and now lives out of town. We may get together soon and I may be able to get assistance with changing over. Until then, you can stop the attacks.

I never cared what you do, one way or the other.

But if your excuse is "it's too hard to install," then I question that given my experience.

No one "attacked" you. And I will NOT stand for you declaring those as the terms of the discussion.

You are WAY too defensive on your choices here...

@adam1991: I certainly appreciate your passion and support for EPG123. If I recall correctly, it wasn't soooo long ago that were this passionate about never converting to EPG123, so long as there was hope that WMC/Rovi would get their acts together. You've experienced the anxiety of making a change, the second guessing, the unknown risks with such a move, and it took a complete failure of the guide to get you to take action.

All those users still on the Rovi side of things are still experiencing those frustrations and are unsure of what they could possibly do. We, the EPG123 users that have left all those burdens behind and are enjoying not only the guide data accuracy, but the calming confidence in the reliability that EPG123/SD bring, should be talking about that and encouraging others to come on over. Answer their questions, describe what to expect, how to proceed. What may have been an easy decision and process to change for us, may not be so easy for others.

EPG123, and I, stand with the community and will provide support any way we can. I have no issue helping users find ways to continue using Rovi and take no offense if they decide EPG123 is not right for them. I most certainly have my opinion, but I will not deny others their own. We can help the community by educating them. Anyone can help me by answering questions, creating FAQs, flow diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, ... anything you really want to do, but let's be sure it is constructive.

I'm the one who posted the original question. Not sure how you determined that you personally was being attacked when I mentioned no names. My comment was more meant towards the ones who cannot afford the $25 a year for SD, but mysteriously can afford to buy a pack of cigarettes or afford Starbucks Frappacino everyday or someone complaining they have no money and tell me that their kids need clothes, but later on go and buy a new car
Besides the guide data having issues, here are a couple of other items that will need to be addressed

Windows 7 support ends in Jan 2020 - People running W7 will need to decide if they are going to keep running this as is and hope viruses, etc come thru that machine and attack other computers in their home. Some people who change the configuration so that (for the most part) only channel guide data, and other WMC updates come thru

Yes the other option is to update to Windows 8, which support expires in 2023, but unless someone had already obtained a WMC product key from MS, that won't be an option

I am installing now. I just asked Garyan if I should populate the little box next to my provider before clicking Apply & Exit in Step 3 Step 6.

Just responded to your message. You will need to be running with elevated rights to create/edit the task. Click any button with a shield on it to restart the program with elevated rights and then make the changes and create the task.

I'm not sure where the quote"it's too hard" came from.
My quote is
" I have read the 123 install guide and many of the 123 problem threads and most of the procedures is beyond my knowledge. Thus 123 is an option but only a last option if guide data runs out."

I've installed it now but my quote was accurate. It was beyond my knowledge. But with considerable hand holding, I have solved most of the problems. I have 2 problems left I am trying to find the correct thread for. I guess this makes me rational again. No hard feelings.
