Greetings everyone
Does anyone have a list of services that can be disabled on a dedicated 8.1 WMC machine?
The machine is an old dual core with 4 g of ram but the CPU clocks over 30% doing nothing. I'd like to disable all things not needed.
Thanks
Jan

I can tell you right away if your using hdhomerun you need their WMC tuner service and ceton has a tuning adapter service. You need to keep all the windows media services and media center extender service but here is a list I took from another site:
•Diagnostic Policy Service
•Security Center
•Print Spooler (Only disable this if you don’t have a printer)
•Application Experience
•Secondary Logon
•Program Compatibility Assistant Service
•Portable Device Enumerator Service
•Offline Files
•Remote Registry
•Windows Error Reporting Service
•Windows Image Acquisition
Internet Services
•Distributed Link Tracking Client
•IP Helper
•Computer Browser
•Diagnostic Policy Service
•Security Center
•Print Spooler (Only disable this if you don’t have a printer)
•Application Experience
•Secondary Logon
•Program Compatibility Assistant Service
•Portable Device Enumerator Service
•Offline Files
•Remote Registry
•Windows Error Reporting Service

Internet Services
•Distributed Link Tracking Client
•IP Helper
•Computer Browser

Thanks, I'll check for any of these that are running and disable.
I'm using two HDHomerun tuners which seem to be working fine.
Thanks again
