1.2.10 not importing guide data

#1

Post by captain_video » Fri Feb 01, 2019 7:17 pm

I recently updated two of my HTPCs to version 1.2.10 of epg123. I downloaded the installation package and unzipped it and then ran it to install the latest version. When I execute epg123 manually it goes through all ten steps and then never gets to the final task for importing the guide data. I checked the About Guide screen in WMC and it's still listing the old version of epg123. The epg123 program window shows version 1.2.10 at the top. The main menu in WMC showing the status of epg123 has the yellow screen with the exclamation mark. I have deleted the scheduled task and reset it after installing epg123 but it hasn't made any difference. The program had been running fine until I installed the latest update.

Update: Never mind. I had a brain fart when I installed the latest update. I keep forgetting that the reason you delete the scheduled task is because the check box to automatically import the guide data gets cleared so it has to be set up to do that again. I deleted the scheduled task and then checked the box to import the guide data when I reinstated it. It's working fine now.

Do you have the option to 'Automatically import guide data into WMC' enabled in your task?

OK, the guide data seems to be importing OK, but I still get a yellow exclamation point in the status icon on the main screen of WMC. Is there a description of possible symptoms for this to be displayed?

Take a look inside your trace.log file and search for any [WARNG] entries. It will either be a station didn't get an update or there was a time discontinuity detected.

I searched through the trace.log file and found a [WARNG] entry as follows:

"The imported MXF file contained a WARNING in its status field."

I tried to look at the epg123.mxf file in Wordpad but it just hung up the app so I couldn't determine what the Warning was all about. I was able to open it in Notepad but when I ran a search for "WARNING" there were just too many instances that showed up the the episode descriptions so I gave up trying to look for it.

Everything seems to be working OK so is this something I can just ignore and not worry about?

The mxf file will just have a status in the provider field I think with a value of 47825 (0xBAD1) for a warning and 57005 (0xDEAD) for an error. The trace.log file on the computer that creates the MXF file will have more detailed information about what the warning and/or error actually is.

I just upgraded to version 1.2.11 and it appears to have fixed whatever the problem was. Now I get the green status icon on the WMC main screen.
