Combining multiple sources with EPG123

#1

Post by mini-me » Sun Nov 11, 2018 3:23 am

I have an OTA tuner and InfiniTV6 with a Verizon Cablecard. I want to map the cable channels as sources where there are duplicate OTA channels. For example if CBS is mapped to 5.1 OTA and 505 on Verizon, I want to remap 505 as an additional source on 5.1.

I had previously done this with guide tool but is there a way to do this natively within the EPG123 client? If the recommended path is guide tool, should I be using 1.2.5 or 1.4?

A merge and/or split is not part of EPG123. The merge part is fairly easy to do, but the split looked a little complicated and risky so I never worked on it.

As for Guide Tool, I prefer 1.2.5 but I think the change to 1.4 was very minor. I have found that Guide Tool will initially/eventually stop seeing anything in the WMC database when using EPG123 to be able to do anything with it. I don't know why Guide Tool trips up when EPG123 is in play, but we'll never know since it is no longer supported.

My actual recommendation is to use WMC to merge the channels. It works just fine, but will take a bit longer especially since there are 9,999+ channels to list when editing them.

I know I am late to the party but FWIW, I find that my OTA channels and Spectrum (TWC) are combined after a WMC signal setup. I have the opposite problem I want them separate. I think I posted the arduous process somewhere on this site a while back.

Warning, I digressed responding which is below...

Separate listings allows me to setup series to record both cable and OTA airings. When there is interference sometimes it is different from the two reception points. Sometimes cable just doesn't work. A combination of the cable company being the cable company and Ceton being dead. Regardless with both I can usually avoid the On Demand Commercials as a backup.
