Received another update this morning, it says to 11/4 but really through the afternoon of the 3rd. Two updates in a row!

Have they finally fixed things? Or is this just a prelude to another time change debacle?

Finally got it working last night. I had to open an elevated command prompt:

cd c:\windows\ehome

Mcupdate.exe -uf -dbgc

All is well for now until it isn’t again,.....

Aye, and there's the rub. If you were a betting man, where would you place your money?

I'm interested in seeing how the time change goes down this time around.

Well, since we are only a couple of days away from receiving data for the end of DST, I'll say it is likely the time change will be smooth, but we will have another breakdown before the end of the year.

2pm Sunday, FINALLY joy in Portland, OR on Frontier; guide updated until 5pm Thursday 2nd.

Totally agree with mwpeterson that we'll probably be back with this circus again before the end of the year. Sigh.

Just got my update and for those recording the Walking Dead premiere, they have it flagged as a rerun so you'll have to manually add it.

the second switch you listed -dbgc is redundant and unnecessary. The -uf does both the forced update and runs the client maintenance task which cleans out the data base.

It doesn't run twice so the command is just unnecessary.

two thing that I noticed

1. for the non-major networks there are a lot of generic program descriptions

2. the guide seems to access quicker. the same thing happened just after the last major breakdown, then over time it began to slow down again and occasionally lockup for short periods of time 30-45 seconds to 1-1/2 minutes.
I wish they would find a way to clear out useless data on a regular basis that seems to be bogging down the program.
When you run the elevated command of mcupdate.exe -uf it will download the latest guide whether it thinks you have it or not AND it runs the data basse clean up task which is Client Maintenance. Generally MC tasks will run that at least once a week unless you've modified the Media Center task library. IF you look at the tasks you'll see TWO for MCUPDATE, one that is scheduled to run once a day or once every twelve hours and another that runs client maintenance which also can be run alone with a -dbgc which is data base garbage cleanup as an elevated command. Generally you guide Data Base should be cleaned weekly by MC.

I didn't notice your observation of generic program information but that might be due to your guide. I'm on Spectrum but the guide names are still TWC for some reason.

Lost guide data today. Elevated mcupdate -uf fixed it. Should I setup a weekly task for this command? If so, is there a way to create an elevated command via task manager?

New to the forum. I also have been unable to get updates to WMC Guide Data in both Utah and Florida. I read several way to do a manual update.

1.Type cmd into the start menu box and then paste the following command into the black window and press enter:
%windir%\ehome\mcupdate -uf -pscn 0 -dbgc

2. I had to open an elevated command prompt:
cd c:\windows\ehome
Mcupdate.exe -uf -dbgc

Are these the best chances of getting guide data to update? Which should I use? It seems the only difference is the -pscn 0 switch.

Thanks

You must run the manual commands from an elevated command prompt not from the start menu run command

BUT you only need to run c:\windows\ehome>mcupdate.exe -uf The rest of the switches are not necessary and the pscn is an interval timer and not useful and the -dbgc is already incorporated now in the -uf command. Some of these switches date back to Vista when we still got some feedback from the ehome group.

Thursday AM and nothing new since we all thought it was fixed. Here we go again - after just one "last second" update.

My OTA tuners are all from Hauppauge which comes with their WinTV8 software. Which hooks into TitanTV's EPG. But they admit wmc has a nicer gui. I spoke to one of their techs on Monday - he suggested looking into Schedules Direct.

I think they are putting 12 days on all at once now. Let it run almost out each time.
Instead of regular updates, its now a big chunk at the last minute.
May be this way from now on?

This appears to be the new norm unfortunately.

It seems that my weekly job is to come out here and see if I'm the only one w/ these issues. And every week, I find that I'm not. Down to 7 days. At what point do we we panic (again)?

If that's their plan, it's a terrible one. Data from 10+ days out frequently contains errors. I'm double-checking my recordings for the upcoming week and there are multiple issues that probably would have been fixed if the data were more current.
