Can't find tuner on Windows 10 1607 after reinstall

#1

Microsoft updated my Windows 10 system to 1607 and I lost my Windows Media Center. I attempted to reinstall (multiple times) following different posts on the WWW. The installation did not reinstall the C:\Windows\ehome\en-US directory and contents and WMC wouldn't even start. After I copied over that directory, WMC would start, but couldn't find any tuners. I have a Hauppauge 2650 cable card tuner. I reinstalled the latest drivers for the tuner, but I WMC still doesn't find any tuners. The device is connected and the drivers are installed and the device manager says they are working correctly. I have been trying to work this issue for the last 4 days with little success. Any guidance would be appreciated.

By chance, did you look at this thread? http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... 97&t=10308

To my understanding, you do lose tuners with the Anniversary update. I believe there is a workaround, but I'm not sure if it's with certain tuners or not, but last I checked DRM channels will not work.

If you still have the 10586.0 build, I would suggest following these instructions: https://forums.mydigitallife.info/threa ... ost1218317

All the channels from my cable provider are DRM. Before Windows 10 1607 things would generally work. There were times when WMC would not work with DRM content, but I could stop and restart WMC and it would then display DRM content. Maybe it's time to finally bag WMC.

I had looked at the first thread as I tried to get things reinstalled and working. The second thread referenced looks fairly cumbersome. I was hoping for some simple insight that would allow me to get things working again.

I was surprised that when I reinstalled WMC from WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12.7z that files were missing (in fact an entire directory) that prevented WMC from even starting.

I'll check back from time to time to see if someone can provide clues that would allow me to get things working again.

Does anyone know if anyone is working on getting a version of WMC that will work with DRM content on Windows 10 1607?

DRM on the 1607 refresh is broken on all WMC win 10 versions. version 12 is also not the best version, version 8.8.1 is the latest and greatest. If you want to use WMC on Win 10 roll back the 1607 update and disable windows update service.

I am currently using WMC 8.1 version 6.3.9600.16384 on an old WIN8.1 box .
WMC has under Tasks>TV>Guide 6 functions
Edit Channels
Edit Favourite Line_ups
Guide Page Options
Get Latest Guide Listings
Guide Terms of Service
About Guide Listing

As the internet version of EPG has stopped in the UK, and has been superceded by broadcasters,
the most reliable EPG is that transmitted. Hence it is desireable to have a functional
"Get Latest Guide Listings" on the TV Setup menu.

The above is in relation to now functional WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12.7z
on Microsoft Windows 1607 update
