Windows 10 TV recording options

Is the only option to record TV in Windows 10, with the use of a reliable program guide, to install the latest known version of Media Center and perform the few workarounds to get it to work?

record what kind of TV? Cable...Premium channels (DRM) or just plain OTA? If DRM involved, then as of now, WMC is it. If not, then there are other options. See all the other threads here about WMC "Alternatives"...

Not everyone needed workarounds. Spend a half day reading, you might get lucky too.
