Journey with Linksys continues.
Current setup:
- WMC v12 installed
- RDP Wrapper in port 3391
- Specific Mcx2Prov.zip (from here http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thread ... ost1209611
- Hexed files (http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... 41#p102841
Results are mostly as expected, 3rd party extender won't run in window and extender won't go past Starting up stage. To me it looks like hexed patch is XBOX only.

The Xbox and 3rd party Extenders connect differently. As I understand it, the Xbox downloads a file from the PC, and the 3rd party one is based off modded RDP but, it's about the version and file info.
It would be interesting if you could get the WHOLE RDP system ripped from Windows 7 and try it on Windows 10 to see if that got more progress.
Windows 10 media center is BASED 100% off Windows 8.1's WMC, and as we know, 3rd party Extenders didn't work with Windows 8/8.1...It was due to RDP changes.
Another thing, sad to say, when it was said that 3rd party Exterters would not work with 8.1, there was a LOT of people trying to hack it and over a year or 2, nothing ever happened with it. SO it could be a long road..
Something to keep in mind...
I want you guys to get someplace with it...The DMA2100 I see going on ebay for under $40 all the time, I would love to score one if I got it working in 10...
Good luck !

So difference is a lot more deep than license issue which seems to be solved now. Modded RDP... something what is used only in 3rd party extenders and now that mod is missing on OS side?DavidinCT wrote:The Xbox and 3rd party Extenders connect differently. Yes, sure is, but well beyond my skills. Can there be many versions? Is it even transferable?DavidinCT wrote:It would be interesting if you could get the WHOLE RDP system ripped from Windows 7 and try it on Windows 10 to see if that got more progress.
Is there known reason why UI is not rendered in full screen? Or is it just something what happens because of RDP changes?DavidinCT wrote:Windows 10 media center is BASED 100% off Windows 8.1's WMC, and as we know, 3rd party Extenders didn't work with Windows 8/8.1...It was due to RDP changes.
How about this? In my Win10 system that port number is 3391 and RDP 8.0. What it is in Win7 system? What if older RDP is still there and just need to configure to be used?

I uninstalled the Latest and Greatest MMC App, and went backwards one version to the old Beta Version ceton_my_media_center_setup_w8_13_10_28_1276
Finally got an error in Device manager that tells us something. Well it doesn't tell me much, but maybe you might know what this code is saying.
Another error...
Here are the contents of the MMC install exe
Thanks RyC, this must be the version you were suggesting.

Went back to the most recent version of MMC v1361. 1361 will operate the HTPC. Will also do some Echo Extender stuff, such as when you select a channel and select tune, it will trigger the tuner to start streaming to the HTPC. I don't think WMCv12 knows what to do with the stream, so nothing displays on the Echo.

Setup Custom
Once again, my terminology is causing complications. It appears that many people know this process by a different name. When I suggest use Setup/Custom, this is what I am referring to.
Open WMC and go to Tasks/General/Windows Media Center Setup

Likely because I have only one drive on this box, I am not allowed to change the location of Recorded TV. But I do notice it has a check beside it which is good.
