EPG123 v0.9.1 cannot search
So, I had Win7 & v0.7.6 installed in \program files (x86)\EPG123 directory and the search functions worked fine.
I installed v0.9.1 in a separate directory (\program files (x86)\EPG123-0.9.1), ran it, all looks good. Except that any search criteria I enter (whether in guide view or add recording view) results in "no programs/results were found". No matter if I search on title, keyword, etc. the same result. Only if I select "categories" does the search return valid results.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

No search results typically mean the index task did not run. There should be the following entry in your trace.log file to verify.artm wrote:So, I had Win7 & v0.7.6 installed in \program files (x86)\EPG123 directory and the search functions worked fine.

Yes, I have that. Here's the end of the log file. It would seem that some cache entries would have been deleted in teh cleanup; the log says no.

Well that's disappointing ... there is no way the index task completed in 3 seconds. Definitely not what I wanted to see when moving over to using ehPrivJob directly. You can run update again to see if the task will complete properly.artm wrote:[3/29/2016 6:58:45 PM] [ INFO] Starting ehPrivJob.exe /DoReindexSearchRoot to index guide data.

We may have to try the Task Scheduler to run the reindex task as before. Before we try that though, could you download the latest v0.9.2 version and try those ... would like to see the difference in the discontinuity messages. Should have decreased those entries significantly.artm wrote:I reran it and now it took 1 second to complete!

Before I do that tomorrow, I shound note...the ReindexSearchRoot task does show ready but with a last run date of 03/20/16, completed successfully.
Is this correct? Didn't we just run it twice "successfully"?

No, with v0.9.x we are not using the task anymore ... we are bypassing it and going straight to ehprivjob.exe. Another thing to check is to see if there is an instance of ehPrivJob running ... maybe it is stuck and blocking us from starting another instance.artm wrote:Before I do that tomorrow, I shound note...the ReindexSearchRoot task does show ready but with a last run date of 03/20/16, completed successfully.

No success. I installed 0.9.2, ran it, entire log file attached.
No instance of ehPrivJob running. Yes instance of mcglidhost.exe running, even when I close MC.
Should I revert to 0.7.6 and see if that works? Can I simply run that from it's own directory?
I assume I can simply "install" each EPG123 in its own directory and run it independently?

Is the usage with ehPrivJob.ex correct?
See below for the command line options for this command. They do not include the one you use in the log file (/DoReindexSearchRoot). When I execute it at the command prompt, nothing happens. Could that be the issue?
Also, I do not have the directory where ehPrivJob is (\windows\ehome) in my path. issue?

There is a fix that was used for Win8 here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 772f730ea5
I am not sure if it would fix your issue on Win7, but it might be worth a try.

Yep the indexing should take much longer.

The mcepg2-0.db is only 170 MB (275 channels for 21 days) about 1/3 the size of a (new) 1400 channel Rovi db which I believe is why such a slow machine is now suitably responsive enough to use with MC.
Edit:
I wonder if a manual load of the epg123.mxf triggers indexing?
C:\Windows\ehome\loadmxf.exe -i epg123.mxf

artm, could you run epg123 as administrator ... see if this properly kicks off the index task. We may be seeing a permission problem running the task directly, but using the scheduled task works based on credentials of the task.artm wrote:No, as was noted above, the run time for ehPrivJob is too low - 0 seconds in my last log!

Some success:
1. I tried the solution above by Space to re-enable MC in the Windows search engine. It worked. Search in MC is now fully functional.
2. #1 was tried after running EPG123 0.7.6.
3. I will try running 0.9.2 in a short while and report.
I do recall pruning down the search capabilities since the search service was using too much RAM; cannot recall if I disabled MC option. It's been such a choir to get the search function back to what it was in WinXP - just search for damn filenames!
