Automatch is Ignoring Disabled Channels in Schedules Direct

#1

Post by Sammy2 » Sun Apr 24, 2016 4:21 pm

So I decided to toggle on Automatch when I upgraded to v0.9.5. I had disabled a lot of channels using Guide Tool but Automatch brought them back and they are showing in Guide Tool as enabled now. I had never disabled them on the Schedules Direct website so I figured that must be why they came back. I went to Schedules Direct and disabled all those I don't need. I then ran EPG123 manually but they were still there. I had inadvertently left Guide Tool open and thought maybe that was the issue so I closed Guide Tool and ran EPG123 again. The same thing happened in that all the channels disabled in Schedules Direct still show up. Is the proper way to disable them in EPG123 GUI itself? I will note that my extensive channel number re-mapping remains in tack fortunately.

The automatch feature compares the channel from epg123 to the channel currently in the merged lineup of the guide. If they are not the same, then the automatch will attach the epg123 channel to the merged lineup channel and active the channel in the guide.

Due to changes I made in 0.9.5 to make it fully compliant with Guide Tool and get the About Guide to work and look good, all the above occurred. As far as the automatch was concerned, all the channels from 0.9.5 were new and had to be matched and channels activated. Sorry, but you will have to disable all the channels again.

Also, the channel and lineup selections on Schedules Direct website is only for the xml servers ... not the Json servers we are using. Changes on the website will have no impact on epg123.

I am currently in the process of disabling them on the right side of EPG123 GUI. Should I do it in Guide Tool instead?

Disabling on the right side of epg123 GUI will prevent the guide information for that station from being downloaded and the automatch will disconnect epg123 from all channels for that station and disable them.

If you are disabling a channel in the epg123 GUI, the selection is station based, not channel based. Example: if you have CNNHD on channels 23 & 1023, disabling channel 23 will also disable 1023. So if you want to completely remove a station from your guide, epg123 is the way to go. If you only want to disable a channel, then should be done through WMC or using Guide Tool.

Thanks. Now I know how this feature of EPG123 works.

If you're using EPG123, forget that the website exists other than for signing up for service, renewing your subscription, or opening a trouble ticket.

All downloads of schedule data are driven by the client; this ensures that there's only one point of administration for a lineup - the grabber. It avoids the issues with the XML service, where you need to login to a website to manage your lineup, and then _also_ do things in your grabber.

Dammit! Wish I knew this before I spent an hour disabling channels but I think it'll help the Emby Guide.

Can I quote you on that? possibly put it in my guide? It is a very succinct way to put it.

So I disabled the unwanted channels in EPG123. They do not show from what I can see in the WMC guide but still show in Guide Tool.. Is this normal activity?

Since you are an upgrade ... there are probably 2 lineups in Guide Tool.

OLD: Media Center Electronic Program Guide in 1-2-3 (EPG123)
NEW: EPG123 Lineups with Schedules Direct

The disabled channels should have been removed from the NEW lineup. The old lineup has been de-associated from devices/tuners/channels so has no impact. I haven't determined whether it will die out yet or not. This is the last thing I tried to get rid of before sending out 0.9.5 and failed.

As long as it gets the right information in WMC Guide I'm good. Time will tell if it goes away.

I have two line ups..

Final RTW-US
EPG123 with Schedules Direct.

Maybe I misunderstood. Are you talking about the channels on the left side? or the stations on the right? The channels on the left will still be there, I just unsubscribe the station from the channel and disable it. The station should have disappeared from the lineup on the right side.

I looked again. Everything looks to be correct in GuideTool. It has taken the information from EPG123 and channels not enabled in EPG123 do not appear in GuideTool. I was looking all sideways..

Emby also uses the JSON service, but they're not as far along with integrating (even though they started a lot earlier.) As far as I know, you can add a lineup, but not delete it. They don't support custom channel names, so if we have "WABC-DT" as the callsign, and the HDHR (they only support HDHR right now) says that it's "WABCHD", then there's no match, and no way to link. That's why I added "also known as" functionality to the lineup, but if users don't send me their scans I can't do much.

There's no specific logging in Emby of the EPG. I seem to get accurate results but would like to take out all the SD channels and other channels I don't want in Emby but guess I can't until they get farther along. They are creating a whole product and some components have been put on hiatus to concentrate on other ones such as the Emby Theater, which they completely scrapped going from v1.x to 2.x. That is their primary goal now. I like Emby but what was once a great plug in to WMC is now a stand alone product. That said, I did get an update for the Emby WMC client just last week.

I've got too many pots on the fire right now.. It so happens that I've finally been able to set up my whole home with echos after over a year since selling two houses and moving to another house, combining households, getting married and getting out in the world. It has been a slow process. I've been wiring gig networks, getting remotes programmed, getting the guide flush thanks to epg123 and Schedules Direct / Gracenote. On top of all that my primary PC, which acts as a media server gave up the ghost a couple of weeks back. I still haven't' had time to deal with that. I have all the parts but not the time because we are also re-landscaping the back yard.. Eventually this will be all done and I can see it won't be too much longer until every thing is sort of status quot.

There's a lot less movie posters that aren't found because the Spanish and Asian channels are disabled with the exception of those that broadcast soccer..

^ is also cleans up the categories/genres as well... definitely a benefit to being able to control what guide information to download.
