Adding a Channel?

#1

Post by Jim-W » Tue Mar 22, 2016 8:48 pm

I have EPG123 up and running and it's working great but I need to add a couple of channels I missed.

Adding the channels in EPG123, clicking Save and running the task does not work.

Do I need to Save & Execute in EPG123, then run Lineup Selector and Guide Tool again or what is the easiest method?

Thanks

I disabled some channels in Guide Tool and they went away and cannot be enabled again. I was about to pose a very similar questions. I sure don't want to do a channel scan to get them back as they are all SD channels and government access to boot but It'd be nice to have them if I need them for whatever reason in the future..

Sounds like a bug or miscommunication between Guide Tool and the Lineup created with Lineup Selector and/or EPG123..

For me I just never checked the check boxes in EPG123, nothing deleted.

Nevermind!

I had the "Show only channels enabled in guide" check, checked at the top of Guide Tool.

D'oh!

Most are leaving EPG (SD) lineup fully checked and adjusting in Guidetool and through WMC. In Guidetool you can uncheck and also delete.

Jim-W are the channels listed in your EPG lineup?

Just the number, I manually added and named them in WMC Edit Channels and they work but in the guide they all say No data available.

Okay then you need to tell SD that the channels need to be added to your providers lineup. They will inform Gracenote.

I misunderstood your question, the channel is in the lineup and available in EPG123 but I had it unchecked. So I checked the channel, Save, closed EPG123 and ran the EPG123 task. Didn't work. It looks like I'll have to run Save & Execute.

I just did this for a wrongly numbered channel in the Charter Guide. It is 637 and Gracenote has it listed at 638. @rkulagow over at Schedules Direct responded via email in less than an hour.. WAY less than an hour, that the information had been passed to Gracenote for investigation and correction.

@garyan2 , how will EPG123 handle a change in the data in the nightly update?

If you manually matched the station to the channel, then everything will be normal until Gracenote updates the channel number. At that point, that channel (638) will stop getting updates, but there will be a new channel 637 that will be unmatched and floating out there waiting for you to match it. Version 0.9.0 will possibly do this kind of thing automatically ... just got to nail down the logic decision tree.

With Lineup Selector? Guide Tool?

I'm on Version 0.7.6 but what about Ver 0.8.0? I saw it on your site but it said beta and is older than 0.7.6..

Since you changed your channel numbers, I would limit your options to just the channel edit in WMC ... setting->TV->Guide->Edit Channels ... goto channel 637 and Edit Listings to find the proper lineup by Callsign or Channel Name and select it.

Version 0.8.0 is basically a dead branch ... it was a proof of concept that we could do all the downloads and updates without a cache directory, but I feel there may be too much risk of missing updates so have abandoned it. 0.9.0 should be coming out pretty soon.

Thanks for both explanations!
