Hi Gary,

I neglected to say yesterday that I did get my tuners working again. The problem was that Windows had changed my network settings to Public. The Silicon Dust tuners will not connect to a public network, so that is why WMC would no longer talk to them.

So everything is working again with the exception of TBS. The channel listings continue to insist on tuning channel 1059 for TBS instead of channel 1049.

If you have any ideas, please let me know. I cannot get this to change using the process you described. I have noticed that my tuners no longer use the standard channel numbers for normal broadcast channels. Eg.The tuners will not tune channels 3,5,10 etc but tune 1003, 1005, and 1010 instead. This does not seem to cause any issue. The channel database takes care of this with no problem.

I would like to send you some screenshots but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Thanks,
Jerry

Just sent you an email that you can respond to with all the attachments and images you want.

OK. It's sent.

Let me know if I can send you anything else that would be helpful.
For fun, I tried to change 1059 to tune to 1049. So the guide shows TBS for both 1049 and 1059, but they both still tune to 1059.

I'm kind of desperate to get TBS to tune somehow, even if I have to do a manual record.

Okay, a picture is worth a thousand words. Your problem is that you are still using MS/Rovi for your guide and the tuner setup/issue is from MS/Rovi. You either did not do a Clean Start setup, or you accepted the Program Guide Terms or Service in Step 2. If you accept the ToS, then WMC will download your tuner configurations from Rovi, and Rovi is obviously wrong in this case (channel 1049 in the guide tuning to channel 1059).

If you have installed EPG123 correctly, you will see 9,999 Merged Channels not your current 699.
The Subscribed Lineup for populated channels will be 'EPG123 Cox Communications - Digital (Phoenix)' and not 'Cox Cable Communications Phoenix Digital'.
You will only have 1 Lineup in the right pulldown, not 15.

Basically, the status text on the bottom of the form should say '9999 Merged Channel(s) with 9999 shown | 1 Lineup(s) | 742 Service(s) with 742 shown'

Ok. I don't know how to fix this. The pages I see on WMC do not look anything like what I see in the Install Guide. When I go Guide/Guide Terms of Service in WMC, I am now getting an error that says I must be connected to the internet and that to check my connection and try again. I definitely have a connection to the internet, so ??????

Do I have to reinstall WMC? What would be the consequences for all my recorded programs etc?

Help,
Jerry

You just need to start over with EPG123 install. You need to delete your current WMC database to get rid of the MS/Rovi crud. Start at Step 1 (http://epg123.garyan2.net/install/step1/).

The ToS that were trying to see has been "disconnected" for a while and tells everyone they need an internet connection. The ToS you will decline is during step 2 of the EPG123 installation.

Gary, Help!!! I started at step 1.

It has been running for over 50 minutes now and has not advanced. I think nothing is happening at all.

Jerry

Both step 1 and step buttons are light green.

The message at the bottom of the pop up says it is waiting for EPG123 to close.

I've noticed that the EPG123 Configuration GUI has been showing up behind the client lately. Check your tool tray for another EPG123 icon and bring it forward. I'll fix the code to try and do that automatically.

Question: Did the windows for Step 3, Part 1 show? and you clicked the [Save & Execute] button? or did it show open behind the client and you couldn't see it?

To bring the window to the front, you can also use the EPG123 shortcut.

WMC never opened. It skipped right to the end.

As I said, my WMC pages do not look like what is in the manual. If I go to "Settings" in WMC, I have 8 choices. The first two are General and TV. If i go to TV, that is where I can set up the TV signal. But that is probably for ROVI??

I don't know.

So it looks like my problem is how to disable ROVI. Yes???

OK. I navigated thru WMC and declined the guide data. So then I exited WMC, but my EPG123 Setup Menu is gone now. How do I get connected to Schedules Direct??

Use the shortcut 'EPG123' to open the configution GUI. Everything should already be set up from the last time. Just click the [Save & Execute] button and let it do its' thing. When it is done, open the 'EPG123 Client' and tell me or send me what you see.

OK. I did something wrong. I have no guide data. I thought EPG123 was building a guide but there is no guide data.

The automated steps did not complete for me.

I need to see what your client looks like, but from your trace.log file it appears you imported the guide when there weren't any tuners configured... that basically bricks the database. Take a deep breath and watch the video on the website of my quick setup for an OTA system. Start over with Step 1.

Step 1 will delete current database files and will momentarily open WMC to create the initial fresh database.
Step 2 will open WMC for you to do a TV Setup within WMC, and wait for it to close.
Step 3 will open EPG123 configuration GUI, click [Save & Execute].

From your trace.log file. At 3:08 PM, you did a [Save & Execute] from Step 3, but there were no tuners configured within WMC so it aborted the import automatically. At 3:43 PM, again from a [Save & Execute], and it imported just fine.

Code: Select all

[10/10/2019 3:46:30 PM] Exiting importMxfFile(). SUCCESS.
However, I am not sure what was going on here. Did you try a Database Rebuild or Restore? I did see that the client GUI was open while the import above was done, so maybe it was open during the WMC TV Setup as well?

Code: Select all

[10/10/2019 3:51:11 PM] [ INFO] Successfully forced a Media Center database configuration backup. Exit code: 0

Recommendation is to close all everything and start again from Step 1. Do not do a database backup/restore/rebuild. When the Transfer Tool comes up, you will have to find the zip file that contains your recording requests to restore them.

I don't know what do. I tried going back into WMC and setting up for ROVI guide data. That did not work either. So I have no guide. I can tune a channel and record it manually for 1 hour. That's it.
The ROVI data would not download after multiple attempts.

I've used most of one day to get something working, and now I have less than what I started with. It's pretty discouraging. Maybe I need to reload EPG123. It doesn't seem to be working correctly either.
