It was set on Client mode and automatch.

Edit: It was also set Automatically import guide data into WMC.

It can't be both. Run either EPG123 programs as administrator to be sure to see how it was set up. Also, does the task button say [Create] or [Delete]?

Well that's just weird. Could you post the trace.log entries for the last update to see if there is anything to indicate a problem?

Sorry for being a noob. Where can I pull the trace log entries on the EPG?

Edit: Okay I saw the trace log entries and I'll just have to take a screen shot.

In the same folder you installed epg123, there is a text file named trace.log. Open that up in notepad to view the contents and just copy/paste the updates from today/last night (entries are timestamped) into your response. Make sure to paste inside the [ code] tags.

Code: Select all
The entries will be in the code container.

Your task is Client Mode only, meaning it is just importing the same mxf file every night. Using the client GUI, you will need to delete the current task, select 'Full Mode', and create the task again.

If you are running Win10, then the button will say create if epg123 is not run with elevated permissions (no shield on the button). If you are running Win7/8 and the button says create, then you have not created the task.

Hi Gary, I run the task last night on full mode and when I checked the Client guide tool this morning, for some reason it reverted back to client mode?

Edit: I thought everything was fine the fact that I check the NBA Playoff for today on TNT and I can see the info details.

Edit: Okay I run the task again on full mode and now I can see the " Delete button with the shield" on Windows 7. I hope I'm all good.

If it says "Delete" and the client shows the task is full mode, then you are all set. It will download and import new data every day now.

Hi Garyan,

I just switched back to W10 WMC. I've been switching OS back and forth the fact that I'm using an xbox one wireless adapter for PC and this new version only works if I update to W10 1709 build. That's one of the reason I recently switch back to W7. Now I found a reason to go back to W10 the fact that the later model of the wireless adapter works on my 10240 build. Now, my dilemma is that the epg guide doesn't load on WMC and I've been tinkering for several hours. I was quite surprised that I can't be self sufficient in solving this issue. The EPG guide tool client has the Create button shield. However, instead of full mode it always reverts to client mode with the Create button shield. On the EPG guide configuration there's a Create button shield under the Scheduled task.

If you click a button with a shield on it, then EPG123 will restart the GUI in administrative mode... it does not actually perform the task at this point. You will need to click the button again to actually perform the task. For the scheduled task, you will only create a task if the button does NOT have a shield on it.

Based on the snippit you provided from an update, your guide data is being imported. You don't appear to have Automatch enabled, so is the problem that you don't have guide listings assigned to your channels? In the client GUI, click the Match by: [# Number] button to get that done for you.

Hi Garyan,

Sorry I wasn't able to come back to this thread sooner. The channel guide already appeared on the WMC windows10 V12. I checked the Automatched and full mode on the client guide tool then clicked create. Now, the client guide tool has the black dot on the client mode that says "Error access denied" then the Create button has the shield on it. The check on the Automatch box is not there anymore. On the other hand, the EPG123 configuration also has the "Access denied error and Create button shield. So far, the Channel guide is working fine.

In order to get the scheduled task to work in W10, I had to make it a NETWORK SERVICE (I think) task. Because of this, EPG123 cannot access the task to get the status and configuration unless it is run elevated. Once you run elevated, you will see all those options reflecting the your configured state.

Okay, Run as an Administrator and scheduled task has the delete button no shield. Thanks Garyan. I appreciate your time.

Hi - just wanted to post a possible bug that I encountered (I'm on Windows 7 Home, running epg123 1.1.17). I just went to the guide and it was empty. I manually ran the epg task and it seemed to finish OK, but Windows still had nothing. I was about to to a full reinstall of everything, but noticed the epg123.mxf file in the epg123 directory was dated 4/27/2018, which seemed pretty suspicious. I deleted it and ran the task again but no file appeared. Finally I saw the Clear Cache button and pressed that and THEN ran the task and a new .mxf file was generated, and Windows finally had guide data.

Let me know if you need any more info, I'm not sure how things got so out of date. Note that I'm running epg123 on two separate Windows 7 machines, and only one had this problem, the other (running the exact same setup and version of epg123) is still up-to-date.

Sounds like a corrupted cache file. Is there anything in the trace.log file? I put protections in for 0-byte length files which would happen if your hard drive ran out of space, but there may have been an unexpected null in the cached file.
