sjr56stn wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 4:48 pm I am certainly unsure that this is an EPG123 bug but, starting a few weeks back, I have been having intermittent tuner recording failures, and they seem to only occur when a scheduled recordings coincide with watching a recorded program in WMC. I have two tuner cards (a Hauppauge Hvr 4400 dual tuner DVD-T + DVD-S2, and a TBS 6280 dual tuner 2x DVD-T2). These two tuner cards have been working happily together on my Win7x64 system since 2014.
If I schedule four simultaneous TV recordings, and the WMC program is closed, then all four will record OK, but if I have WMC open then I will likely get either a “no signal on TV channel”, or an unexpected tuner error (code 0xC0040524 or 1073478364). This will invariably occur on the TBS 6280 tuners (although I have occasionally had a “no TV signal” on the Hauppauge). Attempting to view live TV on the failed tuner will usually result in a “No TV signal” or “Tuner not present” message. Rebooting the PC brings everything back to normal. Even a period of sleep seems to fix the tuners.
This looks to me like a software conflict of some sort, or perhaps a corruption in a database. I don’t think anything much has changed on the software front to cause this, and I have tried rebuilding the WMC database in the EPG123 client (v1.6.3.0), but this doesn’t seem to help, and I am wondering what sanity checks, if any, the EPG123 client does on the database when it is rebuilt.
It could be that the TBS 6280 card is failing, and so I am considering replacing both cards with a single multi-channel tuner card (e.g. a Hauppauge HVR-5525 6-in-1), but the hassle of doing a complete terrestrial and satellite retune is a bit of a disincentive!
In case anyone out there is still worrying about the non-EPG123 problem I reported on Mar 23rd, then I thought you’all might like to know that I now think this was simply an overheating issue. I use a HD 6450 display card with passive heat sink, and it gets pretty hot when we are watching recorded programs or live TV in WMC. The TBS 6280 tuner card is in the next slot in my Moneual Moncaso 320 case. I had been swapping display cards, and it seems I put the HD 6450 back leaning over very close to the tuner card. I have now straightened the display card up, and also added some case cooling fans (excellent silent ones) and all now seems to be well. I am pretty sure the failures of the TBS 6280 tuner card were simply due to it getting far too hot.

Login failed. Did not receive a token request from Schedules Direct.

So this is SD issue?

It appears to have been, not now, an issue with SD. Working fine here now.

EPG123 (v1.6.4.3) appeared to be in a paradox today. The warning was just the addition of a new channel, so nothing to be concerned about.

The icon will still change colors, and contain whatever caption is meaningful to the status, it just won't create a pop-up notification with the option to Notify on ERRORs only for SUCCESS or WARNING.

Ah OK, my mistake, I assumed it would hide warnings completely.

Well that's disappointing. A change I made for 1.6.4.3 was to set my json serializer settings to ignore nulls and I was hoping that would take of returns like this. Prior to 1.6.4.3 I would scan through the return and remove null response "[]" for lists/arrays because the serializer didn't like them. I thought setting the serializer setting to ignore null values would take care of it and I wouldn't have to worry about it after that.

Guess I was wrong. I'll take care of this later today if I have time and release 1.6.4.4.

Thanks for letting me know.

Had an oddity that I am not sure if has been seen before. I was running 1.1.19 on 2 HTPCs for ages, recently upgraded to 1.6.4.3 then 1.6.4.4 on both systems used the installer. Then deleted the old scheduled task and recreated it. Everything seemed to work fine and guide was updating successfully. However, on one of the systems all my series stopped recording. (they were not being selected to record) ao I missed some episodes of a couple of things and consequently WAF went down. I worked around it by deleteing the series requests and recreating the series request for series still going on. However am wondering for shows on hiatus if they will record when they come back. Oddly, on the 2nd HTPC series don't seem to be affected and are still recording OK.

v1.1.19 was a looong time ago, but I run it on my system and compared it to the output of v1.6.4.4. There is no difference in series IDs, service IDs, or program IDs to cause this to happen. However, a difference between the old and the new is that the mxf file was encoded as UTF-16 rather than UTF-8. I don't think that could cause the issue either since you said your other machine didn't have a problem with continuing your recording requests. Is there an OS difference between the 2 machines?

Don't know how much you could get from it, but you can open the Transfer Tool and it will show all your recording requests and if the color is bright green, then that series has something scheduled.

On the Norfolk-Portshmouth-Newport News VA lineup there were some channel re-shufles starting with 1st July, especially on channel 49 - like 49.2 LAFF, 49.3 MYS, 49.4 DEFY and 49.5 TRUE REAL.
Schedules Dirct shows the correct data, but the name and logo of the new channels are still showing the old ones.
For example the 49.5 shows the old QVC logo, even if the station name in the epgclient is TRUE REAL. The 49.4 shows Court TV instead of DEFY. The 49.3 shows ION Flex and 49.2 shows qubo.

Is this something that can be fixed in epg123?

Certainly. Open the configuration GUI and click the logo on the channel that is not correct. On the left side are the logos available from SD; on the right are what is present on your .\logos folder.

Check this thread for some details. viewtopic.php?f=99&t=13427&hilit=logos

You may want to upgrade to the latest as Gary has made changes so that Schedules Direct doesn't break things.

I don't think an update will solve this. Looks like you're just running into congestion having your update on the hour. If you open the configuration GUI and click [Save & Execute], does it complete fine? If so, recommend changing your scheduled update time to some a bit more random.

EDIT: Though I do recommend updating as well. A lot has been done in the last 18 months.

I've been doing this for months and months and still get the dreaded "Failed to retrieve token from Schedules Direct". I've changed it to different hours at xx:07, xx:12, xx:36, etc. and it goes fine for a week or two and then back to the "Failed to retrieve token..." error. :wtf:

I'm currently on day two of these failures. Going in and frequently changing the time defeats the purpose of automatic. Worse case scenario I guess users could go in each day and "Save & Execute"...

Is there any solution that would work consistently?

The SD servers are down for maintenance. You're going to have to wait.

I believe they might be switching in some new API changes for season artwork... possibly episode artwork as well.
