Still can't update guide listing
I've installed version 1.7.0.12, but I still can't update the guide listing. I get the error:
"Exception thrown during ImportMxfFile(). The specified executable is not a valid application for this OS platform."
The OS platform is Windows 7 Pro. Any suggestions?

This is new. The error being thrown appears to be coming from loadmfx.exe which is part of WMC, but maybe not. How long has this been going on? Any changes to your OS or .Net updates?

I had the same problem as everyone else with the "en" bad json file. This just started after I updated epg123 and tried to update the guide listing. I've made no changes to my .NET or my OS. Would re-installation of WMC help?

To find out if it is loadmxf or epg123/.NET, you can import it manually.
From a command prompt, run
c:\windows\ehome\loadmxf.exe -i c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf
If that works, then need to look for possibilities.

Also, what size is the epg123.mxf file?

When I run loadmxf.exe, I get the pop-up message "c:\windows\ehome\loadmxf.exe is not a valid Win32 application." When I dismiss the modal message window, I get "Access is denied" in the command window. The size of the epg123.mxf file is 26,713,845 bytes.

So everything from the epg123 side of things is normal/good. There must be something wrong with loadmxf/WMC.
It might be worth it to uninstall and reinstall WMC. You won't lose anything since the programdata ehome folder isn't touched when doing this. Just remember to restart the computer after the uninstall before adding WMC back.

Does "sfc /scannow" repair WMC components?

I solved the problem "loadmxf.exe is not a valid Win32 application". It turns out that loadmxf.exe was a zero-byte file! Even after uninstalling and re-installing WMC, the file was zero-bytes in size. I tried to copy loadmxf.exe from another WMC installation, but got "access denied." I deleted loadmxf.exe, and voila, I was able to copy loadmxf.exe into ehome. I was able to run "c:\windows\ehome\loadmxf.exe -i c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf" sucessfully. No errors.

I wonder how that happened?
You may have filesystem corruption or potentially a virus.
You can run this to try and correct any corruption (you will have to reboot for it to do the check due to it having to dismount the system drive):
CHKDSK C: /f /r /x
(where C: is the drive letter of the drive in question)
But it may mean that the drive is going bad.
Be sure to be on the the look-out for any other signs of disk corruption or failure.

Good idea. I ran chkdsk C: /f /r /x, but there were no errors to fix. I ran sfc /scannow, but that didn't fix it. I also ran HDtune, but it found no bad sectors, and I ran a virus scan. BTW, I have also been unable to save a playlist for some time. So, I decided to re-install Windows 7, WMC, and epg123. And, of course, that "solved" the problem.
