# Specials

I doubt that EPG123 can do anything about this but I'd like to throw the idea out there anyway. Quite often shows on AMC (and a few other related stations) will make available very short "specials" in which usually they amount to nothing more than a long commercial for the show. Rather than have an episode number like S03E19 (or more specifically a special episode number like S00E45) they are listed with a "#" number.

Is there any way to automatically set WMC to not record these # specials?

Not directly, but the time-based showings options in Recording Settings might help.

The # numbering is used for a lot of open-ended shows; sports, quiz shows, some soaps, etc.

Nothing EPG123 can do about this. I just provide the guide, I don't control the recordings. Trying to do something about it would present a significant risk to miss other recordings, I would think.

Yeah, I wasn't aware as to what IT Troll wrote that the "#" was used for anything other than these Specials. At least I've never seen it anywhere else. It might be US vs. UK related. In any event I'd have to agree with you that it would possibly be risky to other recordings. If it were just the # Specials I could imagine several ways around it using EPG123 but since that's not the case... nevermind.

Unfortunately, there are times when there is no season/episode number provided for some programs. Typically not a problem with current running seasons, but I have seen it. If there are no s/e numbers, then epg123 will use a # format for the program.

Understood. Thank you.

It is really quite common in the UK, mostly for domestic productions and especially the never ending daytime TV shows.
