Error importing mxf

#1

Post by Weapon X » Wed Jan 20, 2021 9:42 pm

I'm using hdhr2mxf.exe to update and upload my Silicon Dust HDHomeRun Guide to WMC and keep getting an error when importing it. I've followed the steps from this instructional video http://epg123.garyan2.net/media/hdhr2mxf_setup.mp4 with no issues until the guide is imported. I get an error after 100% importing, then verifying of the guide that states "There was an error in updating your WMC program guide. View the log for details." From my perspective, there doesn't seem be be any issues in the log. It seems to import and convert just fine. An I'm not seeing any import errors. I've gone through the setup several times and always get stuck on the importing. I've tried to manually import the epg123.mxf file and I've tried to manually update and import from the command line. I've rebooted the computer numerous times as well. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the epg123 software as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting. Looking at the code, I would expect the skipping of the schedule entry verifications. This was an oversight by me and will be corrected next release.

However, I am seeing no reason why the automatch routine is determining the mxf file was not created by epg123. I'll have to run some tests. If you want to get rid of the error, you can disable the 'Automatch' option in your scheduled task... not really needed for hdhr2mxf.

For now, I'll hold off until a new release comes out or you or someone else sees my importing issue. I'll switch back to compiling my own guide from zap2it. Seems to be riddled with mismatched listing on a few networks, though.

Your choice of course, but just to highlight that there is nothing going bad as far as creating the mxf file and importing it... your guide is just fine and up-to-date with what SiliconDust is providing. The ERROR is non-impactful, just a little feature that is not functional at the moment for you.

The channel lineup on the right hand side of the EPG123 Client is blank and my WMC guide has no data.

Yes, for years. Seems to have no problem extracting the hdhr2mxf.xmltv file and converting to epg123.mxf.
the guide files are 53 MB and 14 MB respectively, if that sounds right.

Yah, that's sounds right. I am baffled on why in the client you would have nothing on the right side lineups. Having no lineup would explain why the automatch kicks back and gives the error.

The only time I've seen this is if the mxf file was imported before the WMC tuners were setup. That corrupts the database permanently and the only way to recover is to delete the database and start over. That is why I put fail-safes in there to let the user know it could be a problem.

I have the cablecard tuner and I manually set up only the 3 digital tuners. I chose not to set up the 3 QAM tuners. Do you think that might be the problem? EPG123 did give me a warning that only three of the six tuners were setup prior to step 2. The warning didn't seem like a show stopper. Everything still ran until the final importing of the guide file.

No, I don't think so. You should still see the HDHR2MXF lineup on the right side if the import took regardless. Did you close the client and reopen it? I have seen the right side not get populated at the end of a clean start for some reason... I've done thousands of them and every once in a while it happens.

Yes. I've restarted epg123 several times. Tried to import it again through the epg123 application, also through the quicktray, through the command line using "hdhr2mxf.exe -update -import" and using the command line using "C:\Windows\ehome\LoadMXF.exe -i C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf". Command line updates shows no errors, but also no guide or listings. Rebooted the computer numerous times. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Started from the beginning, deleting and adding back in the tuners about 6 times. Always the same exact results, no guide, no listings. I'm running Windows 8.1 if that matters at all.

Could you zip up your xmltv and mxf files and send to support@garyan2.net so I can look at them? They had changed something in the xmltv files that I had to correct for which caused the mxf file to fail on import. Obviously this isn't the case, but they may have changed something else that I will have to adapt to.

Okay, found the problem. When I used JetBrains ReSharper utility, it changed some property names to make them capitalized. In this case, for the lineup channels it changed from "channels" to "Channels". The mxf file is case sensitive so WMC doesn't think there are any channels in the lineup. I caught this problem with the main epg123.exe program, but missed checking hdhr2mxf to see if the same thing happened.

I'm going to edit your mxf file and send it back to you so you can import right away. I'll try to release an updated version later tonight so you can use it going forward.

You helped a lot. Unfortunately it was all my fault. I've just released the new version if you want to give it a go.
