Issues with v1.6.0

#1

Post by KarterJK » Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:12 am

alrighty then...
just a few weeks ago I did an upgrade to v1.6.0, and did a new 3step client install;

1) the match by number or match by call sign .. simply doesn't work, it either does nothing or misses a lot of entries.
  • I tried it, using every way I could think of to get it to function properly,
client mode, non-client, different things checked an unchecked, it refused
    to work
  • why it is important, is because Comcast drops or changes channel numbers
often, causing me to have to delete or add items to the list, and I use the
match function a lot, otherwise I have over a thousand channels to edit
  • I know it worked previously in versions up through 1.4.xxx, and stopped I
    believe after 1.5.2 (not positive)
2) the damn Microsoft guide download has started appearing, even though my guide days are set to 21.

This is a great program but can be irritating as hades to use, especially when using it on 8 devices, any suggestions?

Could you maximize the client to show as much as possible, grab a screenshot, and post it? The only thing wrong with the match routine in the client for latest release is it will not disable "empty" channels. The automatch feature for an update run does work properly.

aww, so you are aware, it is empty channels, I suspect you are working on that
So,
how about that stubborn download warning? Do you know if there is a registry hack to disable it?

By the way,
Happy holidays to you and all maybe you will get some Christmas Cash...ho ho ho

Well, yah. You told me about it here. I've got the fix in for the next release. A work around, if you don't want to enable the 'Automatch' feature, is to click any channel on the left side of the client, key [Ctrl]+[A] to select all channels on the left side, and then press the [Spacebar] to toggle the enable checkboxes for all channels to be disabled/unchecked. Then click the Match by: [# Number] button to reenable only those channels that are matched.

Not sure why you would be getting that download warning as long as you have guide listings. We are talking about the "less than 3 days" warning, correct? Or are we talking about the MS retiring the guide service and you need to move to an alternate provider?

I am a pest. I can't even remember my own whining, Sorry. more than happy to wait for rewrite.

I am not totally sure which message it was, seen both so many times, but 91.38247752 percent certain it was the 3 day one. I ran client setup again to take care of it. Sometimes doing a manual import is all that's needed.

There's really no reason to perform a client setup more than once. If your guide data gets down to 3 days or less that means something else is going on... your scheduled update is failing for some reason. The trace.log file will point you in the direction you need to look. Well before that happens, you should be seeing a red EPG icon in the notification tray or a red logo on the WMC home screen.

I will try to be more attentive and save a log file. I have never seen a red 123 icon

if the guide isn't updating, how else would I resolve the issue other than rerunning the client?
EPG123 (besides WMC) is our most used software

If something is going wrong, the first place to look is the log file. Entries with [WARNG] and [ERROR] will give a hint as to what is going on. Running a client setup again unnecessarily deletes everything when all that may have been needed was to clear the cache or fix your password.
