No New Scheduled Recordings

#1

Post by WayneGS88 » Tue Nov 17, 2020 10:33 pm

I’ve been on epg123 for a few years. You’re a lifesaver, Gary. I developed a problem a few months ago. WMC gave me a message saying my database was corrupt and then reset itself (or something else could have started my problem). Ever since, whatever matches my program guide to my series requests and schedules new recordings stopped finding new shows to record. I can see shows in my program guide that should have been automatically scheduled but weren’t. If I delete that series request, then immediately add it back, WMC correctly adds all the correct shows in my program guide (but not shows that show up in the program guide a week later).

To try to fix this, I did an epg123 [Rebuild database], followed by a [Save & Execute]. I got a full program guide and series request list, but scheduled recordings is blank. Two hours later, it’s still blank. I restored my PC from backup.

For my next attempt, I went into Windows Features, removed WMC, rebooted, reinstalled WMC, ran WMC setup, used epg123 to restore backups, and I got a full list of scheduled recordings. Looking good, but a week later, no new scheduled recordings have been added even though I could see shows in the guide that should have been.

I need help debugging this. I’m on Win7 and epg123 v1.5.1.0.

It sounds like the PVR indexing isn't happening. Could you send me your log file (c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\trace.log) to support@garyan2.net?

One thing to check is the search/index may be corrupted. Go to Control Panel->Indexing Options, make sure WMC is in the list. Click [Advanced] and then the [Rebuild] buttons. See if that clears it up for you.

"Indexing is not running." I may have shot myself in the foot (red face). I re-enabled the service and started it, then started a [Rebuild]. Rebuild says Finished. Checking WMC... WMC is still missing a week's worth of scheduled recordings.

I just re-ran [Save & Execute]. I'm sending you my trace.log file now.

20 minutes later: I just started WMC again and all scheduled recordings are there. I needed a bit more patience.

It may take a little while for the reindexing to complete after your [Save & Execute], but I think you should be good then. The indexing service not running would explain your problem.

The log file looks good, no indication that epg123 is failing to kick off the indexing task, just since the service wasn't running you weren't getting anything out of it.
