Cannot get EPG123 guide working after reinstall of WMC

#1

Post by Mugsy » Sun Nov 08, 2020 5:43 pm

I had to restore my computer from an earlier backup (made about a week ago when everything worked perfectly) and for some reason I can't figure out, WMC (8.8.4) refused to run, forcing me to uninstall/reinstall WMC.

All went well and Live TV works again, but I simply can not get back my Guide (using EPG123 and a subscriptions to Schedules Direct.)

I've tried manually launching the EPG123 Scheduled Task from the Task Manager, I've verified my Lineup in the "EPG123 Config" utility ("Save & Execute"), and my Lineups are paired in the EPG123 Client.

The only thing I haven't tried is "Rebuild the EPG Database" (from the Client) which would wipe out everything forcing me to start over.

Anything else I can/should check before going to extremes? TIA.

Setup: 64bit Win10 Pro with Hauppauge WinTV QuadHD PCIe tuner.

Sounds like this is a MSSQL issue that WMC v8.8.5 will correct for the latest Win10 versions.

Ah, yep, that was it!

I had to fix my path to get it to word (the .cmd doesn't like paths with spaces), but it worked.

Thanks.

I have a similar problem. I had to totally rebuild one of my client PCs. Something went south with its boot record. I have WMC working. It has found my HDHomerun hardware. I can view live and recorded TV. However, the guide is completely blank. This PC is setup exactly like another client PC. It was really easy to just copy the EPG123 folder and import the scheduled tasks. EPG123 seems to be working. I pasted the output from a client run below.

There was one WMC setup step that would not complete. It is the download of TV setup data.

Any idea what I missed?

Thanks,
Ed Zucker

It looks like you are importing the file just fine. It is even running the verification routine so you have guide listings already in the database. I suspect you haven't mapped any of the guide listings to the channels. Open the client, select your lineup on the right side pulldown, and then click the Match by: [# Number] button.

There is no setup data to download anymore since MS shut down the service. If you look here for performing Step 2, you should not agree to Program Guide Terms of Service and elect not to download new data on the 'Update TV Setup Data' page. What WMC would download is all the headends available to you based on your country and postal code. Sometimes it will just sit there and prevent you from proceeding with TV Setup, so choosing the above options avoids that.

Question: do you have this running in client mode, or are you downloading guide listings from Schedules Direct on this machine? The log shows you are only running the client part which will import the same file that was created at 6am.

Wow, thanks for the quick response. I download the guide listings on from schedules direct on my main HTPC. This one also does all of the recording. I copy the newly generated mxf file to my 2 client HTPCs daily.
