Program download half working

#1

Post by timebandit » Mon May 18, 2020 11:25 pm

Hi !

I discovered Schedules Direct & EPG123 in January. I tried the free trial and it worked beautifully. I was able to download both Uverse and over the air local digital channels guide
for my WMC (Win 7).

Loved it so much in March I signed up for a year. It continued to work great. The first 2 updates went without a flaw.

Then in the middle of April it happened. The update downloaded the Uverse schedule, but not the digital channels. (I hadn't changed a single thing in the settings)

For the past 4-5 weeks I've been messing around with it, trying different settings, no luck. I still get the Uverse guide but not the digital stations.

My 2 questions are: 1) can you confirm that the digital guide for my area is working properly and 2) if it is what am I doing wrong ?

At some point in time, you had EXCLUDED your Uverse lineup in your configuration. Open the configuration GUI, include it again, and do a [Save & Execute]. The change would have had to have been saved by you or it would have failed to download the OTA channels as well due to the large change in number of stations downloaded.

On another note, looking at your client there are several channels assigned to the old MS/Rovi lineups. I think I can assume they have no listings? (57.1, 57.2, 57.3, 69.1, 69.2, 69.3, 112, 113 from what is visible)

In the client, on the right side, select your "EPG123 Local Over the Air Broadcast (46615)" lineup and then click the Match by: [# Number] button on the left side. Might as well do the same for the UVerse lineup to handle 112, 113, and any others.

Important: Since we don't know if you were using MS/Rovi or EPG123/SD for those channels, you should check your scheduled recordings to make sure they still work.

I tried the first, it didn't work. I'm trying the second now. Manual import, right?

If you open the Transfer Tool, on the right side you will see your current recording requests. Any of the requests that are highlighted in pink are incompatible with EPG123/SD guide listings.

Open the client and click the [Backup] button.
Open the Transfer Tool and click the [Open recordings backup file] and find the zip file you just created and select it.
Clicking the [>>>] button in the middle will transfer any series that are green over to the right side.
Any remaining series, you can right-click and try to find a match to move over with the [>>>] button as well.

Refer to https://epg123.garyan2.net/install/step3p2/

Anything on the right side you can remove by right-clicking them and selecting Cancel.

It worked. I think I'm all good to go now.

Thank you for your help in getting everything straightened out.

Great!

Just to let you know, your problems originated from not denying the Program Guide Terms of Service (EPG123 Step 2) which allowed the MS/Rovi downloads to configure your tuners and pre-map the listings to them as a source. This will still cause issues in the future as your provider changes their channel numbers or adds new channels. An example would be if they added channel 9999, your tuner does not have a channel 9999 so you won't be able to tune it in and there is nothing to map the guide listings to it. Your options will be to either manually add the new channels, or go through TV Setup again to remove the MS/Rovi crud from your WMC database.
