Blank screen on EPG123 Client Guide Tool

#1

Post by RichMolnar » Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:11 pm

I ran through the install process according to the doc. Selected a line-up. But when I get to the EPG123 Client Guide Tool screen, both sides of the screen are blank. "Guide Channels" blank, "Lineup Services" blank. Never used this software before. I'm evaluating it because WMC guide service expires this month. Any help appreciated.

Close the client and open it again. If the left side is empty, then you did not set up your tuners in WMC (Step 2). If the right side is empty, then you did not import the guide listings into WMC (Step 3, Part 1).

To verify any of the above, open WMC and take a look at the TV strip. You should see 'Recorded TV' followed by something. If you see 'tv setup', that means the tuners are not setup. If you see 'live tv' but not 'guide' then you didn't import the listings.

The tuners were set up in WMC before I installed EPG123. I believe, as part of the install process, all that information was deleted. I will run the TV Setup process in WMC again, see how that changes the situation.

I ran the TV Setup in WMC, and now the Guide Channels and Lineup Services are populated. Also, I now see guide data in WMC. However, when I checked Programs Scheduled to Record, I found none. I thought that information was transferred in. But, in fact, I had to create "Record the Series" entries for all the programs I wish to record.

How can I confirm that the guide information I am seeing is from Schedules Direct, and not from Microsoft?

I did create a Scheduled Task. Will this cause guide data to be downloaded automatically every day? Will the guide data be imported automatically into WMC, or is there a manual step? I chose the "Full" setup, rather than Server or Client.

Open the client and take a look at the 'Subscribed Lineup' column on the left side. If any channel channel with a subscribed lineup that does not start with 'EPG123', that channel is using MS/Rovi guide listings and you forgot to deny the Program Guide Terms of Service during Step 2.

And, if this is no good, how do I fix it?

Thanks.

You have MS/Rovi guide data. You will need to do a [Client Setup] to get rid of it. That would be the reason you don't have anything scheduled to record as well. You are requesting to record programs with Gracenote IDs, but you guide is full of Rovi IDs.
