Swapping from Verizon Cable to free to air

#1

Post by ruff_hi » Sun May 19, 2019 8:03 pm

Greetings ... I have finally gotten sick of paying $X monthly for TV channels that I don't watch. I am using epg123 to update my Win7 WMC guide ... and I am a little uncertain about swapping the guide to Free-to-air channels. I have logged into http://schedulesdirect.org and have added the version of the guide for free-to-air there. Is it just a matter of updating me epg123 info so that it downloads this guide? Any other wrinkle that I need to consider when swapping over my WMC from Verizon to Free-to-air?

Changing your lineups on the Schedules Direct website doesn't do anything for you in this case. Those lineups are for the SD-DD server. EPG123 uses the SD-JSON server. All you need to do is add the OTA lineup in EPG123 and select the channels you want to download. You can either delete the Verizon lineup, or EXCLUDE the lineup from the download (red bubble instead of green bubble for the lineup tab).

Once you have scanned in the OTA channels, you will be able to match/map the OTA lineup channels with your tuner channels.

Thanks Garyan. I think I followed most of that. I will give it a try and see how I do.

The match / map part sounds a little manual.

In the client GUI, select the OTA lineup from the pull down on the right side and then click the Match by: [# Number] button on the left side. That is as manual as it needs to be once you have scanned the OTA channels in WMC.
