Embedding cover art in corrupted recordings metadata

I have some WTV files that appear to have corrupted cover art, and I'm trying to f ix this. I have read the metadata contents via editdvr-ms metadata but I cannot find any entries or ways to embed coverart. Has anyone else come across this issue and been able to fix it? Thanks.

I used to do this with damaged wtv files in order to correct issues with metadata and thumbnails (I first used it with the network share issue where recordings showed 1sec length I think):

1. Move the file out of the recorded tv folder using explorer while wmc is running - make sure the number of recordings changes accordingly
2. Rename the file slightly - just add a space or whatever
3. Close wmc
4. Move file back into recorded tv folder
5. Open wmc and wait 30 secs

Worth a try maybe?

You could also try deleting the thumbnail cache I guess (wmc has a different thumbnail cache to explorer if I recall) - I used to know where it was but I've forgotten !

I think the thumbnail cache files for wmc were called ehthumbs.db maybe?

I think this is entirely an explorer (WMC Explorer as you brought up?) problem. I had noticed before that I could move the files around and get cover art back but I can't seem to get much consistency out of it. I can actually see that my files have values for the WM/Picture field and moving them around the PC's local file system seems to work well enough. I'll have to look for that thumbs file though, and I wonder if WMP database rebuilds include deleting and rebuilding thumbnails, which would make sense. Thanks for the help!!

EDIT: I found a file named ehthumbs_vista.db in my user's appdata\local folder. I haven't tried messing with it just yet because I have MOST of my cover art but after a while I might try deleting it just to see what happens.

I'm also noticing that If I am using any programs to monitor my recorded TV folders (Which I am for commercial cutting) then WMC has difficulties displaying cover art. Additionally the movie library seems much more responsive, and cover art shows for missing files after I close out these programs.
