Hi Space,

Thanks for the input. I ran the SFC command, but got back

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

C:\Windows\system32>

... So... basically no errors.

I'm open to trying anything else...

Please download the following file and try the contents. I've removed the references to use kernel32.dll to disable sleep/hibernation during update execution and then restore it. Let's see if that helps any.

I also have a memory dump file, but it's about 5megs long. Not sure if you'd like to look at that - I can upload it somewhere if you'd like to see it if you think it would help.

Any other thoughts?

Could you compile me a simple "Hello World" file to see if my system can even run it?

Thanks -

- Mike

Don't think we need to go that far just yet. What I find interesting is that the appcompat.txt file shows all the EXEs and DLLs in the epg123 folder, not just the EXE you are trying to run... not sure if that means anything.

If you right-click the epg123.exe file and view properties, do you see anything in the General tab with the Attributes section?

Hi Gary,

No. Just checkboxes for "Attributes: Read-only, Hidden," and the Advanced button.

My WMC is working again, by the way. I had to relaunch the TV setup utility in WMC, but it allowed me to tell it my zip code, provider, TV tuner cards, etc, and WMC downloaded the guide flawlessly again.

(And yes, trying to re-run EPG123 still fails outright after that too.)

It's weird. Here's what I have.

I'm a bit at a loss here. Is your machine part of a domain? group policies in place? Do you have another Win 7/8/8.1/10 machine to try it on?

I had forgotten another suggestions I had as well.

Could you create a new user account and try to execute EPG123 with it? Is there something special about the account you are currently using?

Hi Gary,

I tried creating another user and running the EPG123.exe file on it as well, with still no results.

I have other Win7 machines, but they don't have WMC installed on them. Would it still make sense to try the run on them?

Thanks -

Yes, but only the configuration gui. The client will not open if WMC truly isn't installed.

Hi Gary,

I just wanted to give you an update: I had to uninstall (and then wipe/sanitize) the .NET installation (a simple uninstall/reinstall didn't do it. something somewhere got hung up.) and then epg123 worked correctly.

Thanks again for all your help the past few weeks.
