Guide Data Not Available Soon

I've been using EPG123 for awhile now. Usually, I get the occasional problem where WMC crashes and my saved recordings will double (I have it set to save 10, but now I will get 20 until I delete the older 10). That has been the only problem up until recently.

I just noticed today that in about 20 hours, all the channels are showing "no data available." I've manually saved and executed EPG123 and restarted Windows a few times. Beyond that, I am not sure what else to try to fix this problem.

Looking at the EPG123 log,I found 2 repeating errors.

Code: Select all

[3/18/2019 8:05:28 AM] [ERROR] The MXF file imported is 361.04 hours old.
[3/18/2019 6:00:51 AM] [ERROR] Unhandled exception caught from epg123.exe. message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
3/18/2019 6:00:54 AM] [WARNG] It appears the MXF file to import is incorrect. Changing the import file from "c:\epg123\epg123.mxf" to "c:\epg123\output\epg123.mxf".

Gonna probably need to see more of your trace.log file to better understand where the problem is. You can use the configuration GUI, clear the cache using the [Clear Cache] button, and then [Save & Execute].

The Warning you are getting is because you did not create a new task when upgrading from 1.2.1 or below. Steps to take to include the above...

1) Open Configuration GUI as administrator
2) Delete current task
3) Create new task
4) Clear Cache
5) Save & Execute

Thanks for the quick response. Since I made my original post, I ran the rebuild WMC database and that seems to have fixed the problem.

After reading your message, I also followed your steps to fix the warning message.

The other problem I mentioned (I don't know if it's related to EPG123 or not) with what seems to be WMC losing track of what I already have you know of any way to clean that up? I currently have a folder in WMC that shows 20 recordings, but there are just 10. I've deleted the folder from WMC, but the next recording of that show will display 11 recordings. I've even deleted all the shows manually from my Windows folder, but it ends up back to showing 20 recordings, even though there are 10.

I'm not sure I follow... are you referring to a series recording that you limited to 10 episodes but it will actually record 20 unique episodes? Or are you saying that every recording is shown twice in the Recorded TV screen?

If you are seeing double, then I would suspect WMC is monitoring the same folder in 2 different ways (local filepath, mapped folder, network path). You can check the registry key [\\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording\WatchedFolders] to see if this is the case. If you remove a duplicate path, it can take some time to properly clean itself up.

If you are recording 20 unique episodes, my guess would be that your WMC database crashes often. When the database crashes and is rebuilt, WMC "forgets" everything it has recorded before. Even though when looking at the Recorded TV it will group the old series recordings with the new series recordings, only the new series recordings will count towards your limit of 10. So you will have the 10 old plus the 10 new to combine for 20.

What you described in the bottom portion of your message (20 unique episodes) is what is happening. So this sounds like it's a WMC problem. Is this normal to have occur 3-5 times a year?

The last time this happened, I now have a folder saying I have 20 episodes, but I only have 10. I've deleted it from WMC and Windows file system directly, but as soon as it records 1 new episode, it reports 11 episodes, but it is really just 1.

Thanks again for your help. I very much appreciate it.
