Not getting a full 21 days

#1

Post by bobviolence » Sun Mar 10, 2019 4:17 pm

Just noticed that I am down to 16 days worth of guide data (usually it hovers around 20).

Digging in, I see this in trace.log: [ INFO] Downloaded 0 daily schedules.

Anything I can do on my end, or is this just Schedules Direct being strange?

(full trace.log if needed)

Code: Select all

Yah, looks like it is hovering around 17 days. Don't know if this will be the new norm ... personally, I only pull 15 days so would have never noticed. Schedules Direct will tell you U.S. customers will get 14 days and anything above that is bonus, but it is different than before.

Gracenote in Emby only has 14 days but so does epg123.xmltv so it's a limitation of Emby I believe.

I've monitored the situation since my original post. Everything appears to be working as intended; guide data just seems to have been reduced to 16-17 days. Not a huge deal, just thought something was broken on my end.

For kicks, I went to www.schedulesdirect.org/faq to see what they say ...

*****
How much information is generally available?
Schedules Direct offers two data sources; SD-DD provides XML and SD-JSON provides JSON.

SD-DD data typically has 12 to 13 days of data in the US. The JSON data has about 20, but the further out you go, the fuzzier it gets. The SD-JSON data supports countries outside of US/Canada/Mexico.

The XML data generally has episode descriptions, but doesn't have deep information about the actors.

Some applications have native support for the SD-JSON data. Those which do not, will have less information available. (Some programs may pre-process SD-JSON data to a XML format, but will lose information because not all JSON fields are in the XML layout.)

The info on our program grid has been ending at 8PM on April 6 for a couple of days now. Wife is getting antsy, as she prefers to range out 3-4 weeks ahead in her long-range planning of recordings. A manual info download today still has the info ending on April 6.

1. Do I need to tell her that "this is the way it is now"?

2. I'll get really worried if we get to March 27, 28, 29 and the grid is still stopping on April 6.

3. FWIW, we are seeing the little EPG123 icon with the X in the center, even after the manual download. I'm wondering if that doesn't simply indicate that it's not receiving the full 28 days of schedule info that we had set it to.

#3: no, it's telling you that something is wrong with its tasks. It doesn't know or care how much data there are; it simply cares that its tasks executed successfully. Red X means tasks did not execute successfully.

Do you know how to check your log and post the results here?

Yes. Need to check the trace.log file to determine what the error is... you are currently not getting any updates and is not related to the topic.

Sorry about that Gary, the OP not getting his full 21 days of schedule info seemed a close enough symptom to put this in the same thread, and it seemed to jibe with the 12-13 day schedule info reported from SD's website upthread. But I'm fine with moving these last few posts to a new thread if necessary. (Mods: suggested title: "Guide info ending April 6".)

The trace.log file is 441KB. Rather than posting it here, is it better to get it to you via e-mail or a cloud service? I've used WeTransfer with good success.

Whichever way to submit the trace.log file is most convenient to you, just let me know.

Thanks for the information, that's clearer in my mind now.

I have the trace.log file and could post it here, but it's 441KB in size. Not sure if TGB has a file length limit for posts or attachments.

Just really need to see the last update attempt with any/all [ERROR] entries. You can copy and paste into a code display block using the </> button while in full editor mode.

Please upgrade to v1.2.11. The error looks similar to what was fixed in that version where any program id that started with 'SP' would abort the update. With March Madness going on, this is quite possibly the problem. If it still fails to update, clear the cache and try again.

Please upgrade to v1.2.11. The error looks similar to what was fixed in that version where any program id that started with 'SP' would abort the update. With March Madness going on, this is quite possibly the problem. If it still fails to update, clear the cache and try again.
That worked like a charm. Didn't even have to clear the cache. Schedule info now goes out to April 13.

Installing a new version of EPG123 seems to be a lot easier now than I remember it being in the early versions of the software.

Thank you very much. Donation is on its way!
