EPG123 Not Updating

#1

Post by SalmonSurprise » Fri Aug 12, 2016 11:28 pm

I got EPG123 working, but now it says guide listings end in less than 3 days, so it has never been updating the guide except when I manually open EPG123 and re-execute the command. Isn't this supposed to automatically update WMC via a scheduled task or something?

If you have scheduled a task to do so it will. If the task is scheduled, then there is probably a permission problem. Of note, for Win10 you will need to run epg123.exe as administrator to create the task.

Win7 pro. Do I have to create the task or should epg123 do it automatically?

You have to create the task. The button above should say Create instead of Delete.

Here's the step to create a schedule task from the upcoming version of the guide. Key is if the button says Create, then a task does not exist; if the button says Delete, then the task does exist. If the task exists but is not successful, then there is either something wrong with the task, or there are privilege problems.

Strange, the task was already there. Not sure why it isn't running. Looked through all the tabs, all looks good.

I tried manually running the task and nothing happens.

You need to change the privilege of the task to High.

Another thing to be aware of is if the task was setup in a different location. You may want to use the GUI to Delete and then Create the task again. There should be something in the trace.log file to indicate why it did not execute; if there is nothing in the log, then the task is pointing to the wrong place.

Perfect! This fixed it! Nothing in the trace.log, changed location of epg123.exe and it works like a charm. Thanks for your help!
