WMC 8.9.1 Installation MSI Released
I just released version 8.9.1 of the WMC installer for Win8.1/10/11. This version is based on both 8.8.5 and v13 by @technodevotee to perhaps give a better experience along with a couple fixes needed that I didn't know about until earlier this month.

For the first 9 folks that downloaded the new msi, if you get a warning that it couldn't register a dll, just click continue. I've updated the msi to remove that message.

I am using the older 8.8.4 on a W10 1511 with a cable card tuner.Do I need to use 8.9.1? Are there any instructions for the upgrade?

If it is working for you, don't bother "upgrading". There will be no difference in what you have right now.

Yes, you will need to uninstall whatever version of WMC you have to install this package.

Hello garyan2,
I have installed your WMC 8.9.1 and I am getting a Decoder Error: the video decoder is not working, is not installed, or is not supported.
This is on windows Pro 8.1 without WMC form Microsoft. I don't know what video decoder I need to install.
I have been using your EPG123 on my old computer with windows Pro 8.1 with WMC form Microsoft with no problems.

Well... this is a new one for me.
The message, in case attachment doesn't work, says It appears there are 10 tuners available for use but only 6 of them configured in WMC. Do you wish to perform TV Setup again? I only have 4 tuners on this machine. Two Hauppauge WinTV-7164 with two tuners each. I tried to do a Restore Database Utilites and got a message that the tuners don't match and restore ended. Don't know if the backup has 4 tuners and I've got WMC thinking I have 6 or 10 tuners. After the setup finished... WMC also seemed to restart without me doing anything... Ghosts??
I'm not sure what I did but I was trying to upgrade an old Win7 PC to Win10 (that seemed to work ok) and add the latest WMC8.9.1 This is a backup PC so I am wondering if I should just uninstall WMC, uninstall EPG123, restart the machine and start over?? This is not my main machine but thought this might be an opportunity for me and possible others to learn from the Masters on what I did wrong and if it can be fixed.
I also got a message about PlayReady and probably answered that one wrong.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

What version of EPG123 are you using?
2 things here... EPG123 sees 10 tuners in the registry and only 6 recorders setup. I believe this means that you have your 4 TV tuners, but also have 2 radio tuners (p/o your tuners, 1 each). Up until recently, the restore/rebuild process could not correctly match radio tuners and would fail the check and not do the restore. You can however bypass this if needed.
So for the 'Verify Tuner Count', you can simply say [No] to performing setup again. The prompt is really just a guess to your current hardware and not necessarily reality.

Hi Gary,
I'm using V1.7.3.0 of EPG123.
Should I remove PlayReady PC runtime amd64 from Apps & features? I only use OTA recordings.
Learned something new...didn't even know they had Radio Tuners.
Thank you for the great software and answering all these questions.
Thanks
John

Thanks Gary,
My WMC install on windows 10 has no uninstall feature. It doesn't show up in the normal Programs & Features. WMC does show up under the windows start menu and under the Windows Accesories but with no option to remove.
I also tried to delete the ehome folder but that doesn't work due to permissions.
Any suggestion? I see I need to uninstall existing WMC before trying you you latest version.
Thanks again.

If your previous install is from the older zip file installs (8.8.5 and older from the folks at MDL), then you will have to use the uninstaller from that zip package to remove WMC.
