Updated Windows 10 and old Windows 7 WMC

We bought a new windows 10 laptop for Christmas and it has the latest windows 10 updates. My main WMC system is Windows 7 Premium on a hdhomerun cablecard. COX is DRM happy. Is there a way to access recoreded shows on the newer windows 10 builds people have been able to figure out. It looks like HDHOMERUN still does not have protected channel recording figured out on their product yet and I dont know how far off that will be. It would be nice to not have to go a duel boot scenarior or a nerfed windows 10 install. Thanks. Also if I do install a unpatched 10 Who has the most current complete guide to install windows and WMC? Are there any virtual machine scenarios that work if I reach way out there on a limb?
