What is WMC V13 and where do I find it?

In it's eternal sniping at WMC users, Windows 10 has disabled WMC on my PC while doing an update to Windows 10 2004. There is apparently a possible fix by restoring some DLL's but the tool is part of an install kit for what was referred to as WMC V13. Is this correct? Where do I get it? Thanks, Mtdog

Microsoft removed MSSQLLite in later versions of Windows 10.

WMC relies on that so you need to reinstate it. It is true that a tool to do it is included with V13 but the tool is also available for use with other installers.

You can download it from my website (in my signature).

Thank you. That worked. I was looking at the wrong tool for DLL's but the MSSQLITE tool worked The three items that were installed yesterday, one of which broke WMC were:
Feature update to Windows 10, 2004
2020-06 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 2004for x64 based systems KB4561600
Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Anitvirus KB2267602 Version 1.321.624.0
I get the impression that WMC is broken sporadically and not uniformly by these Windows updates.

Hey technodevotee,

You have been a big help to me in the past. Is your web site still up? I can't seem to find the link in your signature, and when I try https://technodevotee.co.uk, I get a "website holding page". I was looking for WMC V13.

Hi All

Please kindly advise if anyone has kept a copy of WMC version 13, which presumably was available , as the link indicated on 16/08/20 has no content.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

It turns out I had it on another computer. I uploaded it to Dropbox, and here is the link:

TechnoDevotee included lots of helpful cmd files-- fix_MSSQLLite is included.

Hi vkdyer

Am impressed with the sheer amount of work on WMC13

Thanks for files. the repro sound quality is A1

1) I have choppy video which gradually reduces when scaling down from video full screen viewing.( AMD RX590 graphics)

2)There is no indexing of media libraries available ( music or videos ) , which locks up during "search".

The helpful suggestion of :
Registry edits: unfortunately does not help , as the "EPG" entry does not have" /v SearchRegistered /f " in my system

reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG" /v SearchRegistered /f
net stop WSearch
cd %windir%\ehome
ehprivjob /DoRegisterSearch

Are there anymore suggestions on media library search lockup issues ?
Thanks
for your reply

Regards

The files in V13 are almost the same as any other version of WMC and the vast majority of WMC functionality is actually from Windows or Windows Media Player so I suspect this is a Windows issue rather than a WMC issue.

Have you rebuilt the search index (control panel, indexing options, advanced, rebuild)?

Hi

Thanks for the heads up

The Windows 10 indexing had been disabled in favour of better and faster indexing software

WMC database search now works if windows search is re enabled.

The web updates of song background logos seems to lag behind compared to earlier WMC versions.

your best bet is to ditch V13 and install 8.8.5 from here: https://mega.nz/file/GKQx3aTB#1PY2AgBQh ... Sc5b2G1XhE
