Trial expiration message and recognizing tuners

#1

I had WMC installation working on Windows 10 1511 (just been sitting there on an SSD for a long time, I generally use Windows 7), and I decided to try upgrading in to 1903 using technodevotee's files. Perhaps something was missing in my backup/restore procedure, but clearly I have a registry error. When I try to play a previously recorded file, I get the message "trial expiration - this trial version has expired and can no longer be used". Could someone tell me the registry key related to trial expiration that is wrong and what the correct setting is? Just knowing which key might be enough, I could restore the working Windows 10 1511 and see what the value is. (I could also try repeating the Windows 10 1511 to 1903 upgrade and see if I missed a step.)

The other problem is that WMC doesn't recognize my Hauppauge tuners. I had the same problem today with WMC on Windows 8.1 when I did the latest Windows update, and the cure was the change to user in the properties for the Windows Media Center service so the user was the local system user. But for Windows 10, the service was running, and changing the uset to "local account" didn't help. The WinTV app finds the tuners OK.

I am happily using EPG123 on Windows 7, but the Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 installations still use the original guide. Hmm, I was just searching through the forums, and I wonder if epg123 might help find the tuners?

have you run replace_dlls.cmd in the installer folder?

Zounds! Running replace_dlls.cmd fixed both problems! Now methinks (after making an image backup) I will install epg123.

Thanks technodevotee, you are the greatest!

(later) I now have epg123 running with WMC on Windows 10 1903. :D
