He is still updating it but I think it's for nostalgia. If you read Ian Dixon's announcement about it on Twitter you can see there is still interested in WMC. A user on this forum over the past year or so casted a lot of doubt on past telemetry claims and low usage. The Twitter conversation only reinforces that doubt
