Hi all.
Recently, I've occasionally been having recordings fail because 'the windows media center receiver service stopped responding' and had to restart the PC to resolve it.
I've searched the web and can't see any other recent report but I wondered if anyone here had seen this problem.
It has only happened on my Living Room PC (Windows 10) so far and it may just be a problem with my PC but it seems to be running fine in all other respects.
I haven't changed anything other than switching a few additional guide entries over to epgcoollector and applying updates.
The Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped responding

When you say applying updates, do you mean Windows Updates? If so, those break WMC.

I don't think it is as straightforward as that.
I have three PCs running Windows 10 Professional with Media Center; one with one DVB-T card, one with two DVB-T cards and one with two DVB-S2 cards.
I manage the installation of Windows updates by letting them loose on the spare PC first, followed by the backup PC and, assuming those have been running them without issues for a week or so, the Living Room PC.
The Living Room PC is the one I am having problems with and is the one with the DVB-S2 cards and the others haven't shown any sign of problems.

You can try setting the service to auto-restart when it fails and even set it to auto-reboot at failure.

Again, I don't think it is as straightforward as that.
The service doesn't stop running, it stops responding.
Restarting the PC doesn't help me understand why the service is stopping responding but it is a way of getting recording working again.

your issue is beyond my level. Have you tried uninstalling the patches to see if that helps? Have you tried reinstalling WMC? You could always write a script to restart the service and run it as a scheduled task every night to see if that helps.
