ehome IR Receiver - no W10 driver?

#1

Post by seanbperiod » Thu Jul 14, 2016 10:45 am

I've been on the googles for hours and tried many drivers but none of them take..

Does anyone know how to get the ehome IR Receiver to work in Windows 10?

That driver is built in to WIn 10. What make/model exactly is your IR receiver?

I have had issues with some IR receivers and USB 3. Try a USB 2 port instead.

Been waiting for an answer in his other thread.

It appears he is plugged in to usb3 on a mac mini.

Which one of the... three IR receivers that you have, are you using?

1) HP OVU4001 .... the receiver that came with the remote

2) the receiver on the HVR-955 tuner

3) or... the receiver on the Mac Mini

HP and Hauppauge have a fix for theirs..

Nah, Everything was working fine on my Mac mini. My new computer is a ALienware Alpha/Steam Machine. I've tried plugging the HP receiver into the usb 2.0 ports on the front, and tried a USB hub, and it's always the same results. I have the HP OVU400102

Ailenware Alpha USB Problem

Nothing is going to work reliably plugged into those ports until you solve the problem.

This post has nothing to do with EHome IR Receiver, or Win10

The post should be moved to the Ailienware section.

The Usb ports work fine. The driver for the ehome receiver is not being installed because it's not digitally signed.

Here are the only two choices I can think of. I have no idea which one is the lessor of two evils.

1) Find the driver and digitally sign it. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... s.10).aspx

2) Disable Driver Signature Verification. http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to- ... d-drivers/

I've tried disabling driver verification, but then I get the an error about not being able to install the driver because it's not an activation workstation, or something. After researching- it's some kind of permissions error that isn't fixable. And the only way to force the driver to install is to reinstall windows with the receiver plugged in. So I'm going to try that next. Unless, Crash, if you know where I can find that HP fix that you mentioned in the other thread. I may also try getting an RF MCE remote.

You might have to TakeOwnership of the folder the driver is in.
