Guys, guys, guys...
Is it not worth $25 per year to you to be rid of all this aggravation and angst?
It was to me and I signed up for SD today. I've been testing EPG123 in several setups and I am completely satisfied with this improved product. The developer is extremely responsive and has already put out a quality product.
I have several HP Win7 laptops running the same setup, and three HD HomeRun Primes. I love WMC and the only issue was the guide data. I now have guide data that is longer (21 days or more) and better in all respects. i cannot tell you many times I have been frustrated with "Teams not yet available" for sporting events happening the same day with Rovi. PATHETIC! Now, that's all gone.
At any rate, I advise you be proacive and make the switch before you have to. Nothing like panicing at the last moment and screwing things up!
p.s. I should correct myself...I will also donate to the developer $25 for his excellent product!

100% this. Stop this madness and switch to EPG123/SD now. I'm actually still using a stale build (0.7.5) because it works fine.artm wrote:Guys, guys, guys...

Abandon all hope ye who enter here,....
I have a rather exotic setup in that I am using two Hauppauge HD PVR USB units with DVBLink software (using channel merge setting) in Media Center Windows 7 Home Premium along with two Silicondust HDHomeRun Dual tuners. Trying to get this configuration working with EPG123 might not be as easy as a basic CableCard setup. I've just started reading the "EPG123 & Hauppauage Collossus Anyone? Tuner Not Available" thread to get an idea of what I will be looking at with my setup but it isnt clear to me yet if the OP was using the Hauppauge Media Center Beta software or the DVBLink or even if that matters software.
Either way I just started reading the thread and its fairly clear to me that this is a complex process so it wont be easy.

I assume switching we still have to start over with our recordings and any shows off season we have to keep watching out for until they come back on-line to add them back in? Still think there is a way to sync up the Rovi id's with SD values.

Yes, I am sure there is a way to convert. It's just a matter of someone with the right skills creating a conversion utility. There is even an API available for getting Gracenote seriesID values based on series name (see this thread: http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... =99&t=9883).
This would convert your Series over to support the new Gracenote seriesIDs, but it would not retain your episode recorded history. Plus it might not be 100% since sometimes series names may not match anything (sometimes the series names differ between Gracenote and Rovi) or it may match multiple series.

I just asked this at that thread...don't bother. Take screenshots of your recording schedule list and re-enter them once you've switched over.
It's easy, just takes a bit of time.
For off-season shows, do a search by title or keyword and it works for now. When the show is in-season you can tweak it then. It's more than enough to get you going.
Your recording history will be gone. Big deal.

That's fine if you only have a couple dozen series, but for 100+ it can get tedious.

No doubt I will.STC wrote:Then you'd better stop using it.adam1991 wrote:Really?STC wrote:It's highly unlikely that absolutely no-one at MS knows about the issue. I just can't comprehend that.
I take it you've never worked for a large corporation?
WMC is dead.
If the guide data go the way they've been going, that decision may be forced on me unexpectedly sooner rather than later.
I like to organize an orderly transition. The latest guide woes may deny me that.

What happened to, "It's highly unlikely that absolutely no-one at MS knows about the issue. I just can't comprehend that."???STC wrote:...Having feedback for the Connect site active yet un-monitored is just perfect and typical MS.... Couldn't have done it better myself....
You contradict yourself.

Not at all. The Connect feedback center is not just for reporting WMC guide issues. It has nothing to do with MS employees who still use WMC.

????? I never said a single thing about MS employees who still use--or not--WMC.
I simply pointed out your contradictory statements:
1) "Having feedback for the Connect site active yet un-monitored is just perfect and typical MS.... Couldn't have done it better myself...."
2) "It's highly unlikely that absolutely no-one at MS knows about the issue. I just can't comprehend that."

I finally got a good guide update on the second try tonight. Now I have data through the 19th. Late night talk shows now have guests listed again.
