Duplicate Channels in Guide

#1

Post by Woggle » Mon Sep 12, 2011 8:08 pm

Hi everyone,

I've had problems for a few months now in Media Center 7. I'm using the media center guide with a Win Nova T 500 tuner.

I'm also using the GuideTool addin (have been using this for the last week or so).

Unfortunately most of the channels appear duplicated and when I use Media Center to remove some they only return a few days later. I guess the guide has found two possible transmitters and then keeping them in the guide plus the updates are downloading new data and then re-entering all the channels.

Does anyone know a fix - what are others doing in relation to channel guide?

Many thanks

You can stop Media Centre doing background scans for additional channels and frequencies by setting a registry key: Set HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\BackgroundScanner\PeriodicScanEnabled key to 0

IIRC that key needs to be added if its not there. I had same issue and this fixed it for me.
